5 Self-Made Barriers Between You and Your Dream Career

Re: I enjoyed your article.

Thanks sandy. I'm glad you found some things to connect with there. Breaking free of the inertia of that comfortable (or, as you point out, comfortably uncomfortable) spot can be a big challenge. It's almost like taking that one step - committing to making the change and actually taking action - is worth ten steps of forward progress. It's a bigger deal (i.e., more worth celebrating when people do it) than we typically acknowledge.

I enjoyed your article.

As I read your article I was thinking of the old adage that sometimes we are our own worst enemies. So many times we want to make a career change, but we continue not to take the necessary steps to make a change occur.

Your article offers very good advice to help someone begin thinking about where to start to actually make a career change. I loved your analogy of the dart board; how true it is that hitting the bull’s eye the very first time is highly unlikely.

With careers and jobs, people often get into a comfortable (or even an uncomfortable) spot, and it’s difficult to know what to do to get out of it and into something more rewarding.
