"Judgment" call, not "ethical" call

Bad "ethics" would be giving a glowing recommendation for a friemd or relative who "isn't all that good a worker, really".

Bad "ethics" would also be failing to support a friend or relative who is a great worker with your glowing recommendation.

The catch 22 is that the more friends and relatives you have, the more you have to make "judgment" calls about which of them are good workers and which of them are not.
