HRCrossing Post Questions - 05192009

I am looking to build a strong career in HR. It’s a very specific field and I have had very little luck finding openings. Can anyone refer me to an employment site that specifically caters to HR

Dont get caught up in the hiring protocol

You want that job? Call the company, identify who the key decision maker is, print down the job description and write a proposal to meet the description; in other words, a job description is nothing more than a RFP. Write your letter to meet the RFP requirements and submit it priority or express mail directly to the hiring manager and then send another one US first class mail...Don’t email anything, and whatever you do, don’t send a RESUME!...wait 2-3 business days, call for the manager for an interview...Yes, you will hit many snags and HR screening mechanisms, but please DONT SEND YOUR RESUME!

If the HR screening device is getting the better of you; please visit http://professionaljobchange.com/contact.htm and inquire on contact form “How do I apply to a published job and land 50% more interviews”?

job postings

I was just downsized at a large firm. I know the firm expects to hire in my department but expects to hire a current temp. When I google my job category (different job title), this listing shows up a number of times on the same google page. It is also listed at a few different employment agencies. They are planning to wait until March to hire the temp.

Would also like to confirm what the other comment here says. You can be very well qualified for a job you interview for, but someone was just offered the job. The firm's HR is unlikely to remember you or make a connection between you and future positions for which you are qualified. It's not personal, it's just the way HR depts. operate.

Also: Don't assume that...

Don't assume that we have the time to look on job posting web sites for your resume. Be proactive in submitting resumes for specific positions. Despite what our "Dear John" letter says, don't assume we match resumes received in the past for other positions against the job we posted today.

Do assume we might search the internet for your litter.
