Why a Formal Warning Is No Cue to Act Tough

I love this column! This is exactly right. It's not about whether or not your boss is right or being logical. The fact is, she takes this seriously, and you can't just decide to overrule her because you think she's wrong -- at least not without risking your job. It's interesting to me how many people allow the fact that they disagree with their boss make them lose site of the fact that, ultimately, it's the boss' call to make. Overruling it is not really an option;

She said it all

The rules of your employment that you accepted when you were hired should be honored.

If not, you take your chances.

If your conduct is unacceptable--even after a warning--the problem is yours alone, not your boss's.
