AIG Bonus Recipients' Names Revealed

Outrage

If "we the people" don't ban together to form an unstoppable force our government will continue with business as usual. While we weren't looking they became very powerful and they won't give up that power without a fight. They forgot they work for us because we haven't reminded them in about 30 years.

Please check out the Tea Parties being held in your area and lets unite to demand our country back. I'd like the 'fools on the hill' to be submitted to drug testing, background checks, credit checks and IRS checks. I am, in order to keep my job that pays their salaries. I figure that'll elimate about 50% of them. That's a start!

Regulators? Congress?

Why aren't there people protesting outside the homes of our incompetent regulators? Where were the SEC and the FED when the banks were leveraging beyond reason? (or when Madoff was stealing away....) why are we not abusing Bill Clinton and his administration for pushing and forcing Frannie and Freddie to grow and Grow and GRow and GROW.....?

Why aren't we jumping all over the idiots in our congress that approved the bailout without even reading the document? the same morons that instead of focusing on solving the big issue are jumping at every chance they have to politicize the problems and make them a partisan issue.

I hate the bonus situation with AIG as much as the next person. However, I am quite concerned about the viciousness and force with which our incredibly weak (intellectually) Democratic leadership in congress is dealing with the problem. The speed of their reaction only guarantees that the solution will be far from adequate and fair.

I am a Democrat, but I am truly embarrassed to be represented by the likes of Frank, Waxman and Pelosi.

Confidence will only be inspired through accountablility

I would characterize the job performance of these AIG executives as totally incompetant. They do not deserve any bonus at all. The American people are not going to be "confident" and spend any of their hard earned money until these individuals like these are held accountable for their failures. Rewarding poor performance does not inspire confidence. There are plenty of other employees that could take over these jobs and perform at a higher level of productivity and judgement than these incompetants. These bonus spoiled CEO's should get out and be blacklisted from ever working in the financial world again. They are guilty of stealing from honest hard working Americans... everyone that I discuss this with feels the same way!

bonus

There are alot of hard working people who never see a bonus there whole career. And they don't even get special treatment's like other company's. That's because of these company's running thier's in the ground then we have to pay for it. We work just as hard if not harder. Should have let them fail, then let them see where they would be without us.

CT Post

I just left a voicemail asking for the names and addresses of the reporters who worked on the story - do you think they will get back to me?

Irresponsible! Media & Gov't has gone too far this time. These guys are not child molesters and if you agree with the payments or not - none are guilty of breaking any laws.

leave them alone - if any harm comes to them or their families as a result of the list going public the blame rests squarely with the gov't and media.

Bonus recipients dont pay tax!

As a Brit who has worked in the finance industry in London I will let US readers into a little secret. It is common practice for US ex-pats who recieve bonus payments whilst working in the UK that these checks are paid into accounts in tax-haven in the Caymen Islands etc - they never pay any tax on bonus payment!

The Madoff scandal has also reveled that many wealthy investors were no declaring the profits to the IRS that it now turn outs were fictitious anyway. And dont forget the Capitol Hill hearings into Obama's economic team - many of them (incl Geithner) dont pay their share of tax either.

Tax evasion by the rich is endemic in the USA. Cause enough for a second American Revolution?

Who's actually seen this contract?

Most people assumes that what is sure to be a very lengthy contract absolutely awards these bonuses and complies with the applicable law. However, I've not been able to find any real analysis of this so far, just assumptions. Also, how can you award retention bonuses to those 11 who weren't retained?

Could NOT protect bonuses by donations to Chris Dodd

Both Douglas Poling, 48, the unit's general counsel, director, executive vice president, and chief administrative officer; and Jonathan Liebergall, 43, unit director and head of municipal finance, gave the maximum $2,100 to Chris Dodd. The AIG investment agreement provided that the top 75 executives would not receive bonuses. Chris Dodd reversed that with his legislation in the "Stem-Investment Bill"

Perversion of capatalism

Capitalism has been perverted by this subculture of executives who produce no true wealth but simply manipulate assets. Now the pitchfork wielding angry mob that knows the difference between ethics and legalities has names and addresses.

AIG

You guys really take the cake with this one. Them bad business people who do they think they are????? Common let's get real, if anyone of our elected congress folks would have stopped and read the stimulus bill they would have seen that the government had already approved the bonuses to be paid. The only reason why the Obama Administration is going back on its word is because they won't to be seen as the winner with the American people. AIG was legally responsible for paying those bonuses.

The Obama administration thinks that this how you level the playing field. You will always have poor people in the US. However the poorest person in America, has it better than most people in third world countries.
