Celebrities Donate Big Money for Inauguration Party

I just received an invitation—to sign up—for tickets to attend the Virginia Inaugural Ball, featuring Gov. Tim Kaine, Sen. Jim Webb, and Sen.-elect Mark Warner. General admission tickets, which cost $200, are already sold out, but if I donate $10,000, I'll receive four tickets to the Blue Dominion Reception and six tickets to the Inaugural Ball. Don't think I'll be attending either.

But a slew of celebrities are sure to party with the prez. The Presidential Inaugural Committee today released its contributors list, which allows users to view, sort, and search real-time information on all donors who've contributed over $200 to the 2009 PIC. The committee says it doesn't accept individual contributions in excess of $50,000.

Some of the celebrities who donated $50,000 individually include: Jamie Foxx, Halle Berry, Ron Howard, Samuel Jackson, Sharon Stone, and Robert Zemeckis.

What happened to "Change"?

I'm glad to see that the new administration gets it.... NOT. With the economy and all the other problems this country is having and they want to waste millions on inauguration balls? Same old same old, different day same old s***.

Lets be real

The poor will always be with us. Why don't the so called CHURCHES open their doors and let the poor and homeless have a roof and a meal.

This inauguration is HISTORICAL. If WE have paid the celebrities all of this money for their work in television and the movies, they can spend it as they like. Personally I don't see a problem with it. ITs a once in a lifetime event.

Auto workers make more than teachers.. so I have no pity in my heart for them. They should have been paying attention to the world around them and made concessions. Heck, educators have to go to school constantly to keep on top, why not other professions including blue collar workers.

Obama's nine-million dollar mansion

Obama should sell his nine-million dollar mansion in Hawaii to pay for the inauguration party instead of asking hard working Americans to donate. As for these celebrities, can't you find anything more constructive to do with your money such as hiring layed off workers and help the U.S. economy. FOR REAL, give me a break!

Though no elitist, Kim does admit a fondness for a bold bottle of Scout's Honor from Venge Vineyards and satiating her wanderlust in Europe.
