global warming

Is there anyone out there who has spent more than 15 seconds investigating on their own why there are so many scientists worldwide who disagree with the "global warming is man-made" conclusion? What does it mean when the arctic is getting slightly warmer while the antarctic is getting much cooler? There are many questions of that nature that "man-made global warming" is not the answer to but it seems many people just go along with what the mainstream media tells them.

Sarah Palin's saying "it kinda doesn't matter" is just her way of saying that man does not cause global warming and man can do nothing to control the average temperature of the earth. It would be like saying man can control a hurricane.

For you, Maura, to criticize Sarah for her wording is to just show that you are one of the many reporters who is not educated in science and not willing to take into consideration all points of view with equal interest.

It is pretty depressing to see how many Americans will just go along with the media brainwashing and never have an independant thought of their own.

Global Boiling

Fools rush in where wise men would not enter. Palin does not recognise that this is planet earth and that humans live here with what we call common sence. If we humans cannot tell what is right or wrong with our planet then maybe someone from another planet will. The truth is Global warming leads to Global boiling and if we do not cool it down then it will lead to Global melting, nice thoughts to think about. I would like to add that it is not all of earths people that has brought about this problem but it is all of earths people who will pay the price. It is not all of earths people who have built atomic weapons to distroy earth but all will pay the price of its use. Oil is the life blood of the planet and if we cannot see the implications of recycling it back into the atmosphere at the rate we are doing then Palin should go back to Mars where she came from.

What I call tragic is the fact that these people who take it upon them selves to speak for the rest of the world do not understand that we all live on the same planet and it is of atomst importance to use ones own experience to make judgments and not just read a peice of information that some idiot has written. Life is about its own time and not that of greedy humans who does not know to control themselves. The pace of anything is vital to its own development. I am hurt that Palin cannot see fro herself that we have a problem instead of babling what she has heard and cannot make her own judgement.

Global warming

Hello global warming to us in Africa is a glaring reality!

Why burry our heads in the sand like ostriches being hunted without curbing the iminent danger confronting us.is globa warning that sarah may be the ultimate contributor to this problem?

kinda doesn't matter

Palin was implying that the SUBJECT of global warming kinda doesn't matter because the Greens are convinced that GW is real and that CO2 is the cause no matter what the scientific evidence indicates. And besides her boss's position on GW is such that she can't reveal her true beliefs right now and muddy up the political debate.

Consider the following:

1) The ice core data - temperature drives CO2

2) Last 150 years no correlation between temperature and CO2

3) Last 10 years flat or falling temperature with rising CO2 levels

4) Jim Hansen climate models - Wrong, Wrong, Wrong

And the IPCC and the major news outlets still believe that GW is real and that CO2 is the culprit. So it kinda doesn't matter.

Soon it won't matter (a new energy source)

Soon, it won't matter if human greenhouse gas emissions are causing global warming, because a new clean energy source will make the burning of fossil fuel for energy obsolete:

I would like to announce the arrival of a clean, cheap, abundant, and portable form of energy production that will make burning fossil fuel obsolete.

The German physicist Heinrich Freidrich Lenz stated in 1833 the direction of an electromagnetically-induced current (generated by moving a magnet near a wire or by moving a wire in a magnetic field) will be such as to oppose the motion producing it.

Today, most of our electricity is produced by "electromagnetic induction," where a magnet is moved in and out of a coil of wire in a closed circuit.

In other words, we now have to power the motion of either the magnet or the wire to produce electricity.

Instead, wind a solenoidal coil around a magnet, and apply electricity. The magnetic field is amplified, and the magnetic gradient can be exploited to yield more electricity than was used powering the solenoidal coil.

In other words, we avoid having to power the motion of either the magnet or the wire, and can instead have a solid state power generator.

It has been reported that previous attempts to commercially exploit this simple principle failed. Not because such solid state power generators failed to produce a net gain in electricity production, but because the source of the net gain in electricity couldn't be explained.

A private California company called Magnetic Power Inc ( www.magneticpowerinc.com ) exceeded breakeven (i.e. produced more electricity than it used) with a prototype in late 2004. Here is an abstract of their patent application:

US Patent Application Publication No. US 2006/0163971 A1

Solid State Electric Generator

A solid-state electrical generator includes at least one permanent magnet, magnetically coupled to a ferromagnetic core provided with at least one hole penetrating its volume; the hole(s) and magnet(s) being placed such that the hole(s) penetrating the ferromagnetic core's volume intercept flux from the permanent magnet(s) coupled into the ferromagnetic core. A first wire coil is wound around the ferromagnetic core for the purpose of moving the coupled permanent magnet flux within the ferromagnetic core. A second wire is routed through the hole(s) penetrating the volume of the ferromagnetic core, for the purpose of intercepting this moving magnetic flux, thereby inducing an output electromotive force along wire(s) passing through the hole(s) in the ferromagnetic core. The mechanical action of an electrical generator is thereby synthesized without use of moving parts.

I strongly suggest you listen to the first 15 minutes of the radio interview with Chairman Goldes posted on the MPI website. Soon burning fossil fuel for energy will be obsolete, and replaced with a clean, cheap, abundant, and portable form of energy.

Palin's Potentially Possible Position on Global Warming

Maura, you could have waited until after the VP debate and Palin's official swirls would have filled a barrel. As the comment above indicates, the stage is set for another four years+ of rejecting the Greenhouse Effect. In fact, scientists are sure we're contributing to major CO2 pollution consequences. Ocean acidification, ocean dead zones, and climate change head the long list. Drop the party lines - your representatives 'get it', or they 'don't get it'. Get Sarah Palin to net it out. The notion that the world will organize a response for anything less than a man-made, structure-threatening, danger has already been rejected.

owl @ Oct 04, 2008 02:18:57 AM

she says it "dose not matter"...

...not because that is what she rally thinks, but because her pre-McCain-running-mate-position does not jive with McCain. She is towing the party line.

Jen of OK @ Oct 03, 2008 19:43:04 PM

Globay What?

I find it hard to get excited about the cause of a problem that does not exist. Cut wood my friends, we are about to enter a long period of climate cooling. Yes! The sun is cooling. I think we should light our torches and go after those that spend our wealth on solving a problem that does not exist.
