Sarah Palin: Cause of Global Warming 'Kinda Doesn't Matter'

By Maura Judkis

In the continual stream of open-mouth-insert-foot sound bites from Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric is this latest tidbit:

"I'm not going to solely blame all of man's activities on changes in climate because the world's weather patterns are cyclical, and over history we have seen changes there. But it kinda doesn't matter at this point in the debate what caused it. The point is it's real; we need to do something about it."

Well, kinda, it does matter. Because knowing and caring about the cause of a problem help us determine the solution—whether it's climate change or anything else that affects our country. Right? Not that this is the first time Palin has proved herself to be cavalier about environmental issues, which she's changed her position on before.

You can see the video here. The climate change remarks are about four minutes and 30 seconds in, but before that, Palin and McCain have a segment about "Drill, baby, drill" that's worth checking out for anyone who's missed it.

saving the earth

I guess kinda sounds good to me since everyone else is so narrowminded- I think sarah is refreshing to the system instead of the old menusha we have been recieving for decades. People think she is not qualified to be president is a very poor judgement- its the person that surrounds themselves with people who gives advice to correct problems in our world. If you think obama is more qualified i guess your right- but havnt there been woman in other countries who were prime ministers- england thatcher, israel golda- for gods sake if she is so terrible how did she get elected to the govenor of alaska- so in real terms the people of alaska should not vote because they are not qualified to choose the right person- tsk tsk tsk - shame on you for condemming- sounds like the spanish inquisition. I have also heard that other woman are jealous of her for many reasons i will not mention- I am also sure that detectives are out there trying to find some smut on her

you should be ashamed of yourself for calling yourself americans- The qualifications to be president of the united states is age and birth- THATS IT! If im not mistaken harry s truman sold hats before he became senator and then president- no lawyer- have at it

global warming

well my first thought is that gore has asked all americans to change there lifestyle and use less lighting and change to the low flourescent bulbs- hummm! yet when you drive by his mansion every light on the house is on- so he says for us to do this but its alright for him to maintain his lifestyle- how selfcentered. now about global warming - I have read many articles about the human causing this warming trend and if we dont stop what we are doing our environment wil change. ok- now i would like a response about this scenario- after the melting has started in greenland there is now land that has not been seen ever before because of the icepack. since it has started to melt scientists have found fossils and evidence of trees that flourished there before the ice came- so now isnt it possible that we are witnessing a change in nature just as the ice age came and went.why are there trees under the ice pack or are we to also be blamed for the ice age? I dont even think we were here when that happened. This could just be a natural thing that happens within natures cleansing of the planet. Restaring itself the way it always has done. We think of ourselves of such importance. The way i see it is that we are fleas on a dogs back and when the earth gets tired of us it will just flick us off its back and find a differant species to be at the top of the food chain

Sarah Palin

I've heard comments from respected? journalists that she did pretty well. If a monkey can learn sign language certainly a ditsy human being can learn enough facts to stand up there, avoid questions directed at her and get credit for being knowledgeable.
