Everything You Need to Know About the New Chevy Volt

The Price Is NOT Right

Now that Toyota, Honda, and others see the product and the $40,000 price tag, my guess is that they can have engineers design a better looking, better performing vehicle and shave at least $10,000 off of the GM price. This car will need to be $25k or less for it to be a huge hit. Just look at the original iPhone sales numbers and the iPhone 3G sales numbers as a comparison.

Sorry, too pricey.

Electric vs Fuel

There are some fun things regarding electric cars. The on demand torque. The sound level. Yes price is high but depending on how far you drive every day to work it may still pencil out better then most cars.

$40k is not that expensive when you consider the minimum of $200-300 monthly gasoline savings. You should also factor in the almost certain $3000-5000 federal tax credit for this vehicle. When you factor in those 2 items, the cost of this car is similar to a typical car

Very dissappointed! I was ready to purchase when this car became available, but not now. This styling is far from what caught my attention as well. The principal remains the same and I applaud that. GM, you blew it! What a better way to promote new technology that with smart and futuristic styling. Personally, I don't want to drive a "Grandma" car, and I'm an older guy that has a couple of classic muscle cars. Guess I'll wait to see if Dodge markets their VEO.

Price for the Volt

GM, as well as other U.S. manufactures, is asking the U.S. government for loans to develop technology such as in the Volt. The price of the Volt, slated for production in 2010, is in the $40,000 range, far from what the average family can afford. Why should we finance technology of this type without gaurantees of a price range in a more affordable range of around $17,000 - $20,000.

At $40,000, only a select few can afford this vehicle, which means it falls into the "nitch" car market which we all know has'nt been successful for any of the domestic auto makers.

Looks Ummm Whah... and Price Ummmm Kill me!

Okay, love the Chevy Volt. The concept was amazing, both by looks and technology, however the end result is.... how should i put it? Sucidual?

First 30 thou, then 35 thou, now I've just heard with this artical that its 40 thou!

Look I'm willing to look pass the looks, I'm willing for my homies down here to laugh, I'm even willing to back up this idea of which everyone should be on track of, but 40 thou?

Suck my balls GM. The only ones buying these cars are GM fanboys, Treehuggers (No hate; One love), and wealthy people.

Yeah, I know that though the economy seems to bad at bad turning point right now, that its a perfect time to save money at the pumps, but I would like to save money NOW on the car.

One Opinion; a huge difference.

Don't believe it? Watch the sales of the Volt.

I hope they do good, but highly unlikely to win me over.

Whah...

Whats with all of this outrage over it not looking like the concept? NO cars end up looking like their concept! Concepts look like batmobiles. Additionally, what is under the hood (or not under it) is what is most important. Furthermore, the Volt trumps the Prius both esthetically and technologically.
