Cars Getting a Boost From the Recession

we've owned mostly american cars up until about ten years ago. New or used, i got tired of paying to have them fixed. American cars aren't actually made in America. Example: look at a plymouth acclaim and you will see thwe parts are made in Canada and Mexico.

Own Nissans cause the quality is there and i'm not paying a mechanic to fix it every other day. We own a Maxima, Altima and an Exterra. I go where the quality is. Price is secondary.

Youre yet another example of the reasons I stay W Honda. I'd recommend, Honda Toyota or Nissan to prospective buyer, what they spend their money on is their prerogative. A Car is more of a "needed" liability than an asset, so research B4 You "Save Big" on a new vehicle.

just looked it up-consumer reports-german cars are made in mexico and less reliable than other cars. did not know the ford was made in mexico. looking it up now. thanks

The last American truck I owned was a $40,000 Ford diesel which was the biggest pile of s**t I have ever owned. It spent more time in the shop and on a flatbed than on the road. All Ford did was repair it and then the warranty expired and they told me to get lost. It went from $40k new to $9k trade in in 4 years. Greta investment huh???

People who buy Imported cars should stop and think. They have helped cause the downfall of American Auto Mfgs. They all have the same defense for the buying imports. (foreign cars are built better) All I can say is B.S- I recently traded my ChevroletAstro van for another Astro Van because my tade in was over 1/2 worn out. It only lacked a few more miles before it hit the half a million miles on it. the odometer had passed the one hundred thousand mile mark four times and showed another 79,000 miles When I traded it. the secret of keeping a vehicle runing is service it regularly. I wish every one had the same feelings that i do, Which is (USA, RIGHT OR WRONG, STILL MY COUNTRY)

MADE IN THE USA?

Not only foreign auto makers have factories in the states employing americans but you also need to consider how many supposely American cars are made in other countries such as in mexico.

Many people buy American cars thinking that they are being a patriot not knowing where it really is made from. The Ford Focus, cash for clunkers best selling car, it's made in Mexico and that's just a small example.

Yes! Me too I have owned both Fords and GM's and in MY experiance with both manufactures. My 1985 GMC Sierra pick-up has been "hands down" when it come to "costs" in ownership and maintance cost. This truck is the BEST ONE I HAVE EVER OWNED! This truck has given me "quality service" for the last 8 years and has NEVER, NEVER let me down at all. I plan on keeping this truck until one of us goes to our "graves". It's like a "marriage" till death do you part.

It's too bad and a shame that "today's" trucks can NOT even "par-up" in quality and reliability, let alone the savings on materials used to manufacture a pick-up.To much "electronic B.S" and plastics. As far as Chrysler/Dodge is concerned. I could care less and my father would turn in his grave if I ever owned on.

P.S. Some of the Fords might look "nice", but you know the saying Found On Road Dead.
