Relax

People need to chill. I remember when 2.0 came out and it had so many downloads that the servers failed. And that was just US. Now there is over 80 million iPhones around the world... what if half of those all started downloading 3.0 at the same time?

I regards to the features. Apple always waits to get something completely right, close to perfect before releasing it. I haven't seen another phone out there that does copy and past so nicely as iPhone does.

I am happy with the new update. Couldn't wish for more except that ATT needs to allow me use tethering. I am paying 180 bucks for two lines, why can't I use my iPhone to share 3G with my MacBook Pro. Oh ya they need to figure out how to charge a fee for something that is completely free...

Anyways you have to realize we live in monetary system. Which forces a company to create products that become obsolete, so they'll be able to make more profit.

Stil waiting!!

I think almost everyone was awake, awaiting for the update that never came last night. I too have never waiting anxiously for an mere update. I am glad the Apple has listen to there consumers some what. But the new iphone that comes out June 19 should offer more. The only real difference is the camera and the video. The now 2.0 camera is now an 3.0 which should have been in the 3g. I too am an iphone lover. But simple features that should have already been on the iphone are now exaggerated. These are features that simple phones have had time ago. My old little Sprint phone had an much better gps. Another thing with all the advancement, insurance. I just will never understand why no real insurance is offered. Or if insurance was offered on the new 3gs. As of now if stolen or lost the iphone is gone. You have to pay full retail price. Now the $199 or $299 that sucked all consumers in. So the next time i sync my iphone to my laptop. I hope it reads a newer version of the iphone software is availabe 3.0.

i agree with the article

i havnt seen the software, so i can make no just opinions, but it does seem just that, alittle underwhelming. most of the features on the 3.0 software you can get with a jailbroken iphone. apple is known for setting the bar.. but now it seems like they are just playing catch up to the features of the under dogs.i believe that the new iphone is just going to be a beefed up iphone 3g, i believe they have already outdone themselves and made their best product already. i'm not saying this is a bad move, but coming from apple, i'm left asking, 'where is the true innovation that we have come to see and love from apple?' i was at least expecting something along the lines of a newer UI, for UI is everything. true innovation will come from open sourced projects, ie android, especially when it gets more than two phones out. and those who doubt, i can only say you must be dumb to underestimate google. but i hope i'm wrong. apple has lead the innovation to make others try harder, making technologies better. that way we all win!

This article is lack-luster...

I still am amazed that they will let anybody with fingers and a keyboard publish this kind of brainless and unskillful trash on the internet. The iPhone is hands down the most innovative phone on the market. It IS the trendsetter! There was nothing even close to it when it was first released, and only now are we seeing phones with touchscreen technology... And those still don't work as well as Apple's technology. When the first model was released in 2007, it completely blew the market away, and they are STILL trying to catch up. The applications being built for iPhone are out of this world, and I know of many blackberry users who are green with envy of what my phone does. The entire essence of the iPhone is all the trendsetting it need ever accomplish, the rest is just bonus. You critics are impossible to satisfy, because your whole world is as grey as this article was. Your wife isn't beautiful enough either, and your kids aren't quite smart enough I'm sure. Everything is all messed up in your foggy vision, but remember, it is your perspective, not reality.

The fact that the iPhone can be jail-breaked is evidence enough that it is an incredible phone. I love comments thats ay things like, "if so-and-so was smart, etc...." They are the power behind a gigantic, trendsetting corporation, you are writing comments from your 10/hr job somewhere; Now who needs to re-think "smart"?

Are you are fooled or a fool?

Other key changes that benefit developers for iPhone apps are the 1000 new API's. This means we haven't even begun to see the power of the iPhone. That for me is the trendsetter. Out of the box one may debate the semi standard 3.0 features like MMS but iPhones dazzle lies in its ability to scale many markets with its overall scalability appeal.

jail break

If apple was smart they would look at the features of other phones and all the features u can get from jail breaking your phone and make those options available in the iPhone. Apple doesn't want you to jail break ur phone but so many people including myself do it bc it gives you so many options. Apple needs to step up n give people what they want. If they did we wouldn't have to jail break our phones. On top of that apple should go beyond what's already there n make new apps n features that no one else has. The iPhone has an endless potential it's just a matter of apple take advantage of what they have. The iPhone should be hands down the best phone on the market.

Still not enough

I can't seem to find in the updates the ability to dial the phone from a number in a calendar entry, or to use google maps from a location stored in a calendar entry. Other apps do this from the iPhone - why can't the base product do the same thing? It's a little annoying to have to remember the number and then use the keypad to type it in...

Surprise!

Word from a little birdie says that AT&T will have a hardware upgrade to implement 3.0. What a mess that should be!
