Erm, did you not read the quote from Don Reisinger of Digital Home:

"...after using the beta (a term I use lightly, since this so-called beta is better than anything Microsoft ever shipped as Vista "Gold"), I can say with the utmost certainty that Windows 7 isn't only the best operating system I've used in the past decade, it might be my favorite of all time. And as a person with four Macs staring me in the face as I write this, that's something I never thought I'd say."

The "comparison" is that this man owns four macs, and evidentially is well placed to compare Mac OS to Windows 7. Now do you see? :/

My bet is that your unswerving devotion to The Cupertino Mafia made you miss this glaringly large piece of text...am I hot? ;)

Mac's not so user friendly afterall?

@Jon of CO, I could say the same thing about Apple, as every piece of software I've run from them on windows (iTunes, QuickTime, & Safari) all have been buggy, slow or catastrophic (wiping out files). Every few years I've tried them, and every few years I've been disappointed.

No one solutions works for every situation. I think OS X is a great OS, but it's not for everybody. Neither is Windows, or Linux. I wouldn't want a world with just one computer OS. Everyone has different priorities.

Besides, I thought Mac OS was supposed to be user friendly?

More & more these days I see Mac users posting that they want unskilled computer users (i.e. dumb & unintelligent) to go back to using windows. What gives?

So....Wheres the comparison?

The title of the page is "Is Windows 7 Better Than Mac OS X", so where's the comparison. I don't see anything about Mac at all.

Interesting

I'm interested to try both snow leopard and 7. They both seem to be great operating systems. Now if only Linux distros like Ubuntu could keep pace with their commercial counterparts.

Well of course you're going to hate Mac...

Of course you're going to hate OS X if you're using Office 2008, a suite WRITTEN/PUBLISHED/MARKETED BY MICROSOFT. The fact is that Microsoft doesn't the spend time developing it, fixing bugs, or improving current features like it does with it's Windows counterpart (Office 2007).

So, instead of commenting on other features of OS X, you decide to make judgement on software that is made by a company that develops a competing operating system. Nice.

There are many other office productivity suites available for Mac that match or exceed what Microsoft's Office suite does.

I hope you do go back to Windows; the less unintelligent people using OS X the better. Hackers won't have a reason to code trojans and other crap that users, like yourself, easily get lured into installing.

Windows will NEVER be as good as Mac OS

Lets have a little history lesson here folks. In the 1990's Bel Labs invested millions to recreate the OS known as UNIX. The job was headed by Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson, they were both awarded The National Medal of Technology for their efforts. At it's core UNIX is created to be a true multi user multi tasking stable secure server OS. Today virtually every internet server in the world runs on either UNIX or Linux which is based on UNIX.

In 2005 Apple made the decision to move from Motorola based processors to Intel. When they did this they had to completely rewrite their OS and they used UNIX (well actually NeXSTEP but that's based on UNIX) as the foundation, very smart choice. They basically put their own shell on top of UNIX / NeXSTEP.

Windows to this day is still based on MS-DOS albeit buried pretty deep now. MS-DOS really is not an OS it's a simple hardware interface that was written by a guy named Tim Peterson in the late 1970's. At that time no one had any concept of the world wide web and DOS was written with the single computer single user in mind. It was never written for security or multi user multi tasking in mind. This is why windows as we know it is so insecure and always will be.

So to sum up, Mac OSX is based on an award winning program written in the 90's at great expense by Bel Labs that was designed to be secure, stable, multi user, multi tasking. A program that runs virtually every internet server in the world is what Mac OSX is based on. Windows is based on a program that was written by some guy in his basement in the 1970's that's never won anything.

This is why windows will NEVER EVER be as good as Mac OSX.

What a bunch of retards

I switched to Mac after 25 years of using windows. The short answer is OSX Snow leopard blows windows away in every single respect. I can't find anything about the mac that I don't like better then windows. Well, there is one thing, you can only resize a window by grabbing the bottom right corner.....thats it. That's the only thing. Spotlight is amazing, spaces and expose are incredible. I also love the fact that most programs on mac are self contained. Oh, sure you have tons more software to choose from on windows (most of which is crap) but try uninstalling some of it after you've installed it and realized you don't like it. Try cleaning out all those registry keys and every little piece of a program after it's been installed in windows. You can't. I love having a sleep mode that actually works. I've had my new mac for 2 months now and I haven't shut it down yet. You want to run linux, windows, and mac OS at the same time on different desktops.....at the same time? No problem on mac, try that on a PC. Plus the fact that Snow Leopard and all the software that comes with it is full 64 bit. Yeah you guys keep supporting the anti virus software business, I'll never spend my money on a windows machine ever again.

I'm Switching?

Work bought me an imac with Office 08. OS X is super crap, I don't care what you say, it chugs really bad in word when you working with diagrams and good luck trying to open a 5mb pdf file in preview. Tomorrow I'm installing windows 7 RC on my iMac. I was promised so much by apple and received so little.

Let me summarize.

OS X is like the hot blonde at the bar, sure she's hot and you cant wait to get into bed, but soon you realize that she's totally retarded and try to find the nearest exit.

Windows 7 is like the girl you should be dating, its the one you can have a serious conversation with and make some real progress in life together, she actually has a brain and isn't just a pretty face.

Mapple sucks, never again.
