Microsoft Launches Help Site for Vista

Those vexed by Vista can get answers from the horse's mouth at a new site called Microsoft Answers. If you're willing to sign in, you can post questions of your own. You can also get notified by E-mail when an answer gets posted by other users or perhaps Microsoft techs. Or you can browse and search Q&A's already posted.

The site looks useful. But it's startling that Microsoft took so long to set up the kind of community support that is standard at other companies. And Vista, with all of its real and imagined problems, has needed any support it can get.

To Deb Hoyt: Help with IE Shutting Down

Deb, if you try out the Microsoft Answers site there are instructions that might help you solve your IE crashing issue.

Go to the Answers site and Type: "Reset Internet Explorer" in the search box. The first answer in the search results gives instructions on how to reset. If you want the short version: Is all you have to do is:

1.open IE

2.Click Options from the tools menu (upper right corner of window)

3. Click the Advanced tab

4. Click Reset

5. Shut down IE and restart it

Be sure to check the Answers site instructions before you do this though because it clears out addons and cookies. The Answers site content explains all this. One of those addons is probably causing IE to crash. Bottom line is that it is easier to reset internet explorer and reinstall add ons like Google or MSN toolbar then live with IE crashing. Add ons and other stuff gets downloaded from the internet often, even when you don't realize it and causes problems like this. It is good to clear out IE saved files and addons now and then just to keep up the performance.

iTunes

I have been running Vista for over a year and iTunes works perfectly. I've never had a problem.
