Vanity Phone Numbers–Free

shouldn't be this difficult!

I have been on the phone with my new cell phone carrier for 2 hours - back and forth between custpmer service and ports...I want a local number - it doesn't seem to be taken as I've dialed it and used reverse look-ups...but they keep telling me it's not available. Now I have to buy a toll-free # with all the costs that go along with having one of them, even though my business is local.
