Are The States With The Worst Budget Problems The Product Of Taxes?

State's Taxes

In California the legislature defaulted to the people to set taxes. Witness Prop 13 and Education tax reserves componded by minority control in that it takes 2/3 votes to adjust taxes by both the people or the legislature Right now thr minority party (Republins) are in control of the budgeting process.

Almost right

The "Liberals" don't have exclusive rights to mismanagement and uncontrolled spending.

The "Conservatives" are the equals of the "Liberals" in these areas.

taxes

Seems that what got us here will keep us here! Exploration and development of our natural resources would serve as a cussion in these times. Temporary relaxation or postponment of some environmental regulations and rules would give a level of reprieve for a short period.

What I see is the old POLITICAL standards being rolled out, 'Make it hurt the common folk, then they'll jump to approve new taxes for us to continue our obscene spending'!

The Old folk will die soon anyway, and the poor don't know enough to vote, so they're expendable and have no voice in our Adminisrations!

Suspend look good, feel good rules causing financial drains on limited funds for a two/three year period - or One Year from end of this crisis. Then reinstate these rules/regulations and fully fund them! This is EXACTLY what China, India, and Indonesia are doing - the other poluters!

The Environment can wait for a short period of time longer, after all it's waited for several milleniums so far!

Do it right, for a change! This, after all, will occur again!

I sorta think that

the same states which have enough liberals to pass high taxes in the legislatures also have the same liberals passing high spending at the same time.

You also have to look at the special things that some states rely heavily upon and consider what's going on with those things:

Alaska: Oil and gas

Nevada: Gambling and Tourism

New York/New Jersy: Wall Street
