RE: just the begining

That entire post is based on the assumption that people will just continue to pay what they are currently paying also there are technologies out there that might help in this endevor in Scientific American it was higlighted that we could have a near completely sustainable energy grid by 2030. And maybe just maybe we Americans learn to be energy savvy. This is not going to be easy and this has the potential to threaten everybody on the planet.

cheaper than wars

It boggles the mind that Americans would rather go to war over oil than to support cap and trade! And you can flap your lips all day long because if Iraq did not have oil, we would not be there! According to economist that if the Iraq war ended today American tax payers are in debt to the tune of trillions for this war which george bush fed us thru lies deceit and manipulation of information.

Really?

The last ten of the fifteen years that I have spent in the airline industry have been one roller coaster ride after another.9/11, SARS, Wild surges in oil pricing, the recession, it has been one body blow after another.

Every time the industry survives one crisis, we get pounced on by another one.

This cap and trade idea is a sham, much like the "Carbon Credits" idea Gore has been peddling the past few years.

Yes, lets put tens of thousands of more airline employees out of work.

CAP & TRADE? WHY?

THERE EXISTS NO PROOF THAT CO2 EMMISSIONS CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING. IN FACT, THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE IS NOW COOLING. IT'S ALL A CROCK OF YOU KNOW WHAT TO STEAL CONTROL OF PEOPLE'S LIVES AND THEIR INCOMES. IT'S TIME WE REPLACED OUR "REPRESENTATIVES" IN WASHINGTON. IT'S QUITE OBVIOUS THAT THEY NO LONGER WORK FOR US AND JUST TAKE US FOR GRANTED AS JUST DUMB SHEEP.

Cap and Trade Really is Bad

Before I even begin, ponder this - what has the government ever done for you? Really, what have they done to make life better for Americans in a tangable way? Nothing! All our taxes go to pay the debt, none of it goes to the government. When they want money they borrow it from the Federal Reserve. So they don't do anything at all, but they want more of our money. Cap and Trade would cost me and you about $1200 dollar this year. That's $100 a month! For what? To protect the Earth? They don't care about the planet. If they did they wouldn't do experiments with the weather or dump radioactive waste in the ocean or genetically alter the food we eat so that no other seeds will grow but the corporate patented seeds. This whole argument has nothing to do with saving the Earth and everything to do with control. The government knows that Cap and Trade won't help unless China, India, and other recently developed countries do it, too. They have no plans to. Meanwhile I can't find a good job, even in the professions foriegn nationals get all the jobs. Elderly people are working at 7-11. My house is worth $100,000 less than it was a few years ago - you get the point. It's time to wake up, America is under attack from her own government. It's sad but true that we are being ruled by criminals who don't care about the Constitution or the Bill of Rights which limit government power. Now they want me to pay $100 a month for a bunch of nothing. I'm not buying what they're selling and if you have any sense you'll see how our wealth is being syphoned off to overseas interests and we are being destroyed as a sovereign and productive nation in order to create a one world socialist global government and economy. America the land of the free will be gone really soon if we as a nation don't put a stop to it. This is serious, globalism is ruining the USA.

lSocialism does not work

It would appear that the Henrick's family drinks deep from the socialist kool-aid. Cap and Trade is just another block on the socialist agenda that Obama and his radical left wing is pushing. Open your eyes, if socialism work so well the former Soviet Union would still be going strong, if socialism work so well, why is there such a gap between the ruling elite and the rest of the population? Open your eyes and take a hard look around the world were socialism has been tried and is failing.

This is so much fun.

I am having so much fun reading these comments as they parallel all the criticism democrats had of President Bush and his policies, not necessarily on energy just in general. The good ole days of Dems yelling about the President being a war-mongering dictator who was going to strip our power to vote to keep us safe, but look what happened we kept on going and being America just as always. The power shifts, the criticisms change but everything pretty much stays the same. It's really great to see how the world turns. Have fun bashing away at each other and this bill. All the best.

Cap and Trade

What a bunch of whiners! Did you take advantage of the stimulus money to get free insulation and energy efficient windows and doors for your home? Did you take advantage of Cash for Clunkers to get a car with better mileage? Are you using compact florescent bulbs, which use 80% less electricity? Did you put power strips on your TV, PC and other appliances to fully shut them off when you're not using them, thus saving 40% in phantom power? Did you turn your thermostat down last winter, and use fans this summer? Do you even turn off lights when you leave a room? Do you make sure your tires are properly inflated and your car tuned? Are you training yourself in solar and wind power installation?

No, of course not. You'd rather sit there and whine about socialism and fascism (neither of which you understand), King Obama and Queen Michelle and how you want your country back when not one thing has been done to you personally by this government, but a whole lot of bad things have been done to you by Exxon, Chevron and Duke Power, who have spent $81 billion dollars since January of this year to make sure you're afraid of cap and trade, or any other thing that will get us off carbon fuels.

When are you going to wake up and realize that the GOP and Fox News have been lying to you for the past 10 years? They lied to you about Saddam Hussein and 9/11, they lied to you about weapons of mass destruction, and they are lying to you now about birth certificates, death panels and re-education camps. That's how they make money, keep power and keep you voting for their idiotic policies that give everything to corporations and banks, policies that put this nation in trillions of dollars of debt to make sure we can't afford health care and good education for you and your children. The objective is to keep us stupid, afraid and angry so we don't notice that all the money is flowing into their pockets and not ours. And, of course, to make sure we keep on sending our children to war, while their children stay home safe.

When are you going to realize that the enemey is NOT Democrats or Obama, but corporations who corrupt Congress with billions in campaign contributions so nothing ever gets passed that causes them to lose money, or to stop polluting, or for that matter, stops them from cheating us with subprime mortgages, pay-day loans, crude oil speculation, shipping our jobs overseas and importing defective products from China?

The objective is to keep us fighting with each other while they (corporations and those who get their power and influence from corporations) lie, cheat and steal everything they can get away with. This is a giant Ponzi scheme, and they are Madoff and we are the patsies.

Do Your Homework!

The Congressional Budget Office says cap and trade will cost the average family $175/year, or $14.58 per month. The EPA says it will cost between $98 and $140 per year, and John Reilly of the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change estimates $800/year - or $66.66/month. So stop drinking soda pop, buying fast food, paying for cell phones for all of your minor children and actually do something that will ensure they can breathe clean air and won't die in an oil war by 2020.
