Daniel Hannan's Book 'The Plan'

'The Plan - Twelve months to renew Britain' is extremely interesting. Hannan supports taking back power from the politicians and the 'quangos'(organisatins or agencies that are financed by a government but that act independently of it) and localise it. He's in many ways a great fan of the US system, for example the election of local sheriffs and the establishment of local sales taxes rather than centralised law enforcement and Value Added Tax (VAT). I'm afraid that under our recent and new leadership, however, the US is on the path to greater centralisation of power and will copy the mistakes the Brits have. I'm so happy to see so many positive comments about him in this forum!!! The citizens need to snap to attention, participate, and educate our apathetic friends and neighbours!

No, we wouldn't have such a speech here. Too "partisan", "divisive", and "hateful". Or else, we'd find some dirt on whoever said it, vilify them as nutjobs, etc. etc.
