Why Obama Will 'Own' the Recession

Back to blog

It's all his now

Lie spend and blame! Should be the Demorcats new slogan! Gets them elected but doesn't work to build a stable country! Can't say the republicans are much better! This country needs a true responsible leader that won't blame others and do what it takes to rebuild a hopeless mess they all have given us. You will know them when you hear the words a self sustaining goverment that doesn't need to tax and tax more it's people! Yes a tax free nation is possible just not with a lie spend and blame leadership!

Obama the puppet

50 million voters had the sense not to vote for obama. in two years there will be 100 million people claiming they voted for McCain. Obama is not a king, he needs to be told that by America! Congress does not have the right to do what ever they want with all their passed laws and bills. The government, city, state and federal does what ever they want, what ever makes them fat. They are corrupt by nature. Politics equals corruption! doesn't matter if it's on the little league baseball, or church, employment/office, or in government. it is the root of all that is bad/evil. all our society woes can be traced back to this evil. It is like mold with endless growth!

Give the state 3 hours of work unpayed ?!?!?!

Three hours unpayed - WHATEVER - thats what chain gangs were for and should be again. Get some of those "straight G's" on some shovel ready projects.

Wind and solar power plants will never propel a modern power grid by themselves. Maybe a house or something but industrial cities have large three phase motors that require serious power generation (you know something that uses forced steam pressure like nuclear)

I don't have time to go over the rest of your platitude-laced vitriol but safe to say - I am glad you are not in charge.

obamma will be the blame

What are all you democrats bitching about now.Obamma got what he wanted so get off your ass and quit giving speeches and looking for excuses as to why his term might fall. You can bet the republicans will not help him.Maybe his racist wife can or the big traitor,POWELL. All he`ll ever do his TALK,TALK,TALK.

You better believe he will TAKE THE BLAME for every thing he does.Right now he his practically begging for the RIGHT to lump in so that he might be able to blame others in the end. When he is done with his term, their will never be a chance for a real black person again to be president. He is a worthless bag of wind, that needs to stop talking about the past and what Bush did or did not do.The real question is WHAT THE HELL IS HE GOING TO DO.One thing for sure that he will do.

TAKE THE BLAME

Jesus Obama...or is it Barack Christ?

Obama has learned more about how the world really works in the last 6 weeks since the election than in the first 47 years of his life. Now, I'll bet, he's scared...very,very scared. Now, I'll bet, even he cringes at the nonsense he spewed out on the campaign trail. Now, I'm sure, the man who has never had a job finally understands why people care so much about the economy; not everybody can just write books about how awesome they are and sit back and clip the royalty coupons, you know. And now, America, the man who up until 6 weeks ago couldn't have told you three different things about money and how it works gets to walk in and start spending trillions of your money. P.S. If 18 months from now if all the Dems can still do is go off on tangents of Bush Derangement Syndrome then they are in for a world of hurt at the midterms.

Explore our natural resources & trade with our friends & neighbors.clean up our Forrests & rebuild our highways, our Rails.Forbid crazy antics in recreation & sports to prevent a multitude of unnessessary accidents. Open up Employment with new projetsfrom Tides, waterpower Damms&&power producing Lakes Stop more pollution & recicle more.Do research in Siences ,lke medicine, Physics,Technology. Step up Universities & learning.New inventions will be fund, lower some taxes & excesses,Uses of natural resorceslike syntethic fuels from regrowing plants Give the state 3 hrs of work without pay & try more 10 hr shifts where practical, car pool to work & increase public transit.Do more research in medizine & health, the list goes on & on, stop wars & fighting, discrimination, racial & religious strife & share with your neighbours. If everybody shows some intrest in some or all of those projects, then we would not have unemployed people to support, which should only go to sick people & prevent accidents, some commited by stupidity& there would be a better life for All,all those monies for Jobless people & those without employment would be saved. Think about those ideas I mentioned & do something.

"You all"

Katie and Lone Star: Not exactly, although you both know that the contraction of "you all" is "y'all" The apostrophe in this--and in any other contraction--denotes the omission of some letter (or letters). In "y'all" the letters "ou" are the ones missing when the two words are slid together.

To write "ya'll" is to imply that some letter has been dropped between the "a" and the "l" in "you all". This is manifestly where the error lies. And unfortunately, this particular error is widespread. When I get appointed dictator, there is going to be a heck of a lot more teaching of the rules (and, yes, the vagaries) of English orthography in elementary schools.

The Great Depression

Unemployment was 25.2% when FDR took office and 13.8% on the eve of WW II (less if you count government employment). The GNP came close to doubling in the same period. The New Deal was a mild economic success, and would have done better if FDR had been bolder. Finally, doesn't the fact that deficit spending during WW II ended the Depression validate Keynsian economics?

America is at a serious crossroads. In light of the fact that our economy is in the toilet, it's time for our elected leaders to consider some new ideas to pull us out of the recession. The best way to make sure they do this is to make our voices heard. I encourage everyone to check out http://www.friendsoftheuschamber.com/takeaction/index.cfm?ID=76 and sign the petition - strength in numbers!

A little biased?

The Democrats didn't have to blame Hoover, he effectively set himself up as the scapegoat with little help. Certainly Hoover made several poor decisions. Mostly though, he was a victim of history. So is Bush in a similar way, though I believe he was a horrible President, and a big step backwards for our Nation. If I were Obama, I'd be covering my tracks also. However, to go and compare the situation to 1981/2 and give credit to the tax cuts (remember Volcker?!) is facile and disingenuous. Obama is inheriting a situation far worse than Reagan's, since 1. there had been time for underpinnings of a recovery to form by the time RR took office and 2. the financial underpinnings of the nation were far stronger at that time (at least the banks had a pretty good idea how to value their balance sheets.)
