Palin Speech: Sarah America vs. Sarah Barracuda

Jimmy P. at the RNC—My take on Sarah Palin's speech last night? A bit too much Sarah Barracuda, not enough Sarah America. Now don't get me wrong. I certainly agree with just about every other pundit out there that it was a smash performance. But she could have cut out some of the snark and included more on how McCain-Palin are going to get the economy to work better for the middle class folks she knows so well. I know that will be mainly her boss's job this week, but she could have done more on that front. The more energy talk the better for the McCain campaign. I think my pal Larry Kudlow nails it with an astute piece of political analysis:

But I do not think she connected with folks on the economic slump, nor did she present an economic growth recovery plan. Rudy Giuliani made the first foray into that area in his speech when he talked about restoring economic growth through tax cuts and drilling. But he did not get to gas pump prices and the oil shock-driven consumer shortfall in real purchasing power, or the threat of more job losses and higher unemployment which casts a shadow over public confidence and the investor class stock market. Palin, however, can expand her oil and gas drill, drill drill to get to gas prices and the economy. She laid the groundwork tonight. It's only a short stone's throw from tonight's speech to an effectively fleshed out message.... Wouldn't it be great if she and McCain adopted a strong pro-growth tax reform plan to reduce tax-rates across the board, get rid of the corrupt loopholes and tax earmarks defended by the old order in Washington, and combine their ethical corruption cause with prosperity tax cuts? Even a currency reform to restore King Dollar? Along with America First energy reform, where Palin made such a good start this evening?

Sarah Barracuda?

I imagine the media will now be the attack dog to go after Sara Palin so the clean-cut Obama doesn't get his fingers dirty, but really! No experience? Lack of experience doesn't seem to stop Obama's claim to be "ready for the hot seat". When was the last time Obama turned people in for corruption regardless of party affiliation? Never!

I think ANYBODY that can raise 5 kids, run a state as huge as Alaska and do so with a spouse working shift work in the oil fields is ready for ANY office, including President!

Likes heavy metal music? Cool! (I hate it myself, but more power to her!) An unwed daughter who's pregnant? So what, sounds like the same issue us "great unwashed" go thru in life. Lifelong member of the NRA? Big deal! Last time I checked, it wasn't NRA members going around killing people with guns, it's criminals. Her audacity to actually hunt big game to put food on the table? Next time you buy a hunk of cow flesh, consider which animal had a crueler life, that cow or her moose...

Drill more oil, build more nuke plants and install more wind turbines are the only way for this country to get out of this mess. Anything else is just gravey.

McCain/Palin has my vote!

How hypocritical that liberals question whether Palin has the experience necessary to lead, but never stopped and asked themselves the same question about their current party's standardbearer. But what do we expect?

And Obama made a wise decision? Looks to me he validated the Bush/Cheney model.

What leads anyone to believe this woman is anywhere near qualified for such a position? McCain is no spring chicken this is a fact.

So if he were to pass away as President we settle for a Republican puppet in the form of Palin? I dont think so!

This is a ludacrous choice for a running mate. Made in desperation by a party perfectly aware of the Lions they are up against.

Obama has made a wise decision and the Republicans counter with this? These Political hacks should be ashamed of themselves as if the Bush administration hasnt done enough to taint the Republican image this shallow manipulative move will only go down in history as such.

Palin is about as qualified to be vice president of this country(in its current state) as Ronald McDonald is playing CEO General Motors.

Please people this is ridiculous. A desperate move by a desperate party. Lets not allow them to fool us for a 3rd time for Gods sake.
