Barak Obamahood tax for the rich and give to the poor

I support a windfall tax on government tax profits.

Uninformed choose to be uninformed

Joel you are so misguided that I think it would be impossible for you to ever understand how wrong you are. The companies will just change their books. Ok that assumes that the companies financials are a fictional representation of their financial condition.

The is nothing financially sound about this. One more taxes is not a good thing. Secondly, the result of these taxes is that they will result in an increase in gas cost. Guess who pays a disproportionate amount for that increase. The govt takes it and those who get it just pay it back at a premium. I know you will not understand because you obviously have no idea how a company is run.

I think that if Obama gets his way and becomes president that you will be wondering what happend in a few years. If this is an example of how he will operate you will be sitting at home waiting for your welfare check to come. No chance of getting a job.

The Republicans have lost their way with overspending and Obama will get the honor of sinking the ship completly.

Selfish Anachary Then Chains not Change

Who among us accepts free hand outs of money? You feel proud to take money from someone who gives it to you? If you saw someone drop $100 in a bank would you pick it up after they left or give it back to them? What kind of Voting Americans are out there? Can you understand the shame of accepting ill gotten gains of accepting money stolen from others? Obama is a thief and those of you who would accept one dime of his redirected social money is putting your freedom in chains and that of your family.

The Dem's are betting on the selfish majority's vote, on those who want free money that is given to them, on a Change in society that has lost its pride of purpose in independence for the shame of subservience.

Take a dime of this money and you put your independence and freedom in Marxist chains. Whats wrong with making a profit? When you see a politician indirectly criticizing the system that has made this country the greatest in the world because a company makes too much profit, and you feel this is right look at your own selfishness that feeds this thought.

Imagine a society that consumes itself, taking from those that have worked to make money and give it to the selfish, those who want to use government to give it to them. WHAT DO YOU END UP WITH - PELOSIE, REED AND OBAMA!

For you idiots out there this is Marxis ideology pure and simple!

Is it really $1,000?

Obama's plan seems perfect for the average middle-income worker. After all, the cost of everything, from milk to gasoline and even water, has gone up for the past 4 years. However, just throwing money at the American people -- and in such a sloppy fashion as the last round of checks -- will not solve the problem. Any introductory economics course at a community college will tell you that if you suddenly increase the supply of the money, inflation will rise.

So maybe we have an extra $1,000 to spend on food and energy bills, but in the long-run the prices will just keep getting higher and higher, virtually making the $1,000 disappear quicker than you know how to spend it. I'm not sure where Obama's economic advisers went to school, but I hope the American people -- and for our sake, the politicians in this country -- are smart enough to understand that taking a step closer to socialism is not the best fix to this problem.

PS: I do agree with Obama's investing in energy, which does seem to be a promising opportunity to create some real jobs.

"Down with the doctrinaire purists on both sides. That’s what got us in this hole. Obama has put forth a plan to help/solve a problem that is comprehensive and makes sense. This country is in serious economic trouble. We have no more time for doing nothing because it is not the “party line.” "

We're in so much economic trouble that the economy grew by 1.9% thanks to a surge in exports (thanks, weak dollar) and unemployment "jumped" by .2%. Yeah, only Obama's economic plan can save us from economic growth and runaway unemployment.

Oh, thanks for being a hypocrite by wanting down with doctrinaire purists on both sides and then endorsing a doctrinaire purist position. But we should be used to it, since the Messiah and his followers obviously knows what is best for everyone.

Obama Economic Plan

Down with the doctrinaire purists on both sides. That’s what got us in this hole. Obama has put forth a plan to help/solve a problem that is comprehensive and makes sense. This country is in serious economic trouble. We have no more time for doing nothing because it is not the “party line.”

Frank Venice of FL @ Aug 01, 2008 21:40:59 PM

Yeah, Joel, it sounds more like you want us to conform to your view than you are interested in actually wanting to solve the problems of America.

By the by, Fannie and Freddie did exactly what you accuse the oil companies of doing if the government tries to impose a failed windfall profits tax on the them. Where's your outrage against them?

Chris of AZ @ Aug 01, 2008 16:25:46 PM

Barack Obama is essential to save our country

We have listened to most of Barack Obama's speeches and by nearly 100% we agree. Basically he is Progressive to move our country forward but fiscally responsible which Republicans clearly are not. We do, however, doubt that windfall profits taxes will go anywhere because oil companies will just adjust their books to show less profits. The important thing to remember is that John McCain would give us another 4 years of Bush which would destroy our country and that John McCain is confused, showing early signs of dementia and just reading talking points of corrupt Republicans.

We have got to get beyond blue state-red state and realize that we are all Americans who need to work together to solve the huge number of problems we face.

What are you talking about, James? We need to reverse the "failed policies" of the Bush Administration with "failed policies" of the FDR, Johnson, Nixon and Carter Administrations. Those policies obviously helped out America in the long run.
