Earthquakes Still Swarm Yellowstone Supervolcano Caldera

Back to blog

What can anyone do?

I hear what your saying Tianca but this activity is not abnormal, they had this kind of quake frequency in the 80's and nothing blew. You can't evacuate this area every time there is an increase in earthquake activity or land uplift. People who live near Yellowstone and live in California are going to die in big numbers, millions in fact if this volcano blows or a 8.0 quake hits LA. It is just a fact of life. If this quake blows like they think it can, life all over the planet maybe in jeopardy. The human race has no historical recorded information on witnessing a super volcano. It's a scary damn thing that we can basically do nothing about. You just got to live life and hope this thing does not blow for a long, long time.

Just curious....

Are any of you taking this seriously? Some of these comments scream that you just don't give a flying furt!!! You might want to watch the movie Supervolcano, because it is pretty dame accurate about what is going on. How many people do you know that would love to be cremated instantly in their home. Anyone in your family interested in that idea?

Come on! Get serious. It is a very painful, terrifying way to die, for you, your kids, your grandkids and your dogs. Think about this seriously.

There is a bulge under the Yellowstone lake, the magma chamber has been growing in size the last twenty years, earthquake swarms have been happening under the same lake, now there are harmonic tremors seen that are suddenly being removed from the USGS site. These people are the ones who are supposed to be sounding a warning to us. All of this is reason for concern.

Add to that that the animals in the park are freaking out, the ground is so hot in places that your shoes melt, and a few other freaky things.

Why would they cover this all up? Doesn't that alone concern you?

Can't open any vents

As far as the idea of opening a vent to relieve pressure, no way Jose! Opening up a vent to relieve pressure could cause the whole thing to erupt. It could be like popping a balloon, everything would be released at one time. I have been tracking the activity at Yellowstone Lake and Mary Lake and they both have calmed down in the last 3 days but seem to be picking up again today. Not knowing enough about what is normal and what is not for that area it's hard to say if what we are seeing is just standard rumbling. I will bring up a major concern in respect to terrorist. Could Yellowstone be a target for terrorist and does our government identify Yellowstone as a major concern for a terrorist plot?? Any ideas about that?

Vince of CT @ Jan 08, 2009 20:04:21 PM

It goes off every 600,000 years, its been 640,00 since the last eruption

This will definitely destroy the USA. If the far left and their Global Warming hoax doesn't destroy us first. Ya,thats you Al Gore.

Yellowstone

I may be ignorant to the subject of volcanos, but being that Yellowstone has so many natural vents for built up pressure beneath the earth, would it not make sense-if pressure is continuing to build-to create man-made vents to help facilitate the release of pressure?

Perhaps one of the reasons volcanos erupt is because there is nowhere for the pressure to go. Yellowstone has successfully evolved to have hundreds of vents for this pressure, but perhaps they are no longer enough to handle the volume.

If we help by creating vents in the eastern area where the seismic activity is largely located, would that not help the ease the concern?

I mean, if we can put a man on the moon, why can't we manage something like this?

Yellowstone

There is nothing we can do about it, if she blows she blows. Just hope it's not in my life time or my childrens life time or there childrens.

Yellowstone Quakes

Obama will fix it and all problems of he world. He'll tax and fine all corporations.

It's George Bush's fault. It always is!

Obama is always right!

Possibilities and sanity.

All those out there panicking, just relax a bit. Go ahead and get your supplies if you can afford them. Always a good idea to be prepared for the delivery trucks to stop -- whether it's because of a snowstorm, a hurricane or any other reason. This is all part of life. There is no safe place on the planet, it's always something. So make peace with where you are and who you are or move to where you can do so. Big momma earth will do what it will, and as usual, we will cope with the aftereffects -- or not (if we're not here). If you're desperately afraid of hurricanes, don't live on the coast, tornadoes, don't live in tornado alley -- if you can stand the risk and deal with it fine, otherwise get the heck outta Dodge and go someplace you feel more secure -- it probably won't be but perception is what we silly humans live by. In any case Good wishes to all, may you prepare for what you imagine. It won't hurt to be prepared -- ask any Boy Scout......

Yellowstone Super Volcano

Our Ranch is in the East Yellowstone Valley, and awhile ago, all our Horses and Mules left the valley floor here (with tons of hay in the bunks and VAMOOSED! It is not like them because it has been extremely cold here and they need the feed. They NEVER leave that hay! That is why I took a look at this site to see if there has been any more activity! Our DOG was gone when we got back and she came back awhile ago! She NEVER leaves either! Wierd!

We were in the truck-driving up the valley and thus wouldn't have felt a tremor. Our ranch and buildings are directly UNDER a half mile high cliff. Take a look at it on www.redpoleranch.com

Yellowstone

We live 35 miles from the East Gate, and about 50 from the active end of the Lake! We have read that we would be the FIRST to get it (perhaps the LUCKY ones) because if it hit with the force they tell us it will-it will get everyone within time! We would only have MINUTES to worry and Fret!
