The Democratic Wipeout of 2010

Both parties lie - haven't you figured that much out yet?

Fortunately, hopefully anyway...it takes more than just being a "good communicator" to efficiently run this country. Obama just needs to get a little actual world life experience - outside of the corrupt Chicago way of doing things. Go back to, you know, actually being a Senator and doing what senators do for a couple years and then team up with his pal Hillsy for a 2012 come-back.

Not to worry, Obama fans. Although he will be a TOTAL disaster, and unemployment will top 8 per cent, Obama's buddies in the media will simply say that the rate is 2%! You have no problems when you have friends in low places.

Do you think you'll get the truth from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or Mark Levin? No, because Nazi Pelosi and Harried Reid will get them knocked off the air! Obama will let NOTHING stand in his way. Reoublicans won't have the votes, the media won't report the truth, and everything will be wonderful! (Your lost job and starving kids? That's just a right-wing conspiracy.)

Beat the Democrats in 2010? Not a chance, because ACORN will have 300 million new Democrats registered in the next two years! That's impossible? Not for ACORN!

Enjoy the mess, because it will last forever.

But please keep me posted if there is a secession movement in Texas or Alaska.

Try 1934

After FDR swept to office in 1932, the next midterms, 1934, saw the Republicans lose an additional 14 house seats and 9 senate seats.

I think it can turn around faster than expected

I'm hoping that global market stabilize substantially once the market realizes that the US is serious once again about getting it's defficet under control and putting in place some grown up regulation regarding how leveraged companies can be. Remember, the stock market and companies are not based on just what is going on, but also what they expect to happen in the future. I think a well thought out plan, presented openly and described well to the American consumer will be able to turn the economy around quicker than many people expect.

Barack Obama will not be blamed for the ongoing economic storm. Just as FDR never took the blame for the Great Depression, George W. Bush will take the fall for this fall.

Most Recessions last 10 months. This one started in July 2008, so it would have to last nearly 30 months before it would affect the 2010 elections.

Even then, Democrats will have built up such large majorities in the House and Senate that it would take one of the biggest waves in US history to unseat them. The 1994 Republican wave was half-fueled by redistricting, which will not occur until 2014.

If Democrats make the expected gains in Congress this year, it will take about a dozen years before Republicans can unseat them. The average Congressional majority lasts 14 years before flipping. Republicans lost theirs after 12 years, so the Democrats have another decade or so in power.

BTW, the fact that you are already talking about 2010 three weeks before the 2008 elections shows a significant air of desperation.

As of yet, 2010 will see 19 Republican and 15 Democratic seats contended. Compare to 2012, when the Democrats will have 23 seats to defend to the Republicans' 9. Unless they screw up royally they're unlikely to lose control of the Senate in 2010, but 2012 could be the real wipeout if things haven't gotten better by then.

Everythings for free

Since the Dems believe, and Obama and his cohorts have defended to no end, that everyone should be able to have whatever they want no matter the cost, this should be an interesting 4 years. If you want to blame someone for the current economic crisis, look no further than Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. The Republicans have been trying since 1999 to get Fannie and Freddie under control. Granted, their are some GOP folks that are just as much to blame as the Dems, it has overwhelming been a Dem failure on Mac and Mae. When two massively fraudulent companies can control over HALF of the mortgages in this country and Senators are declaring they are doing just fine and doing nothing illegel (in the middle of them being investigated), and then everyone wonders why Wall Street was counting on the Fed to back up the companies, therefore making the investments "sound", you've really got to start asking where did the problem originate. It originated with the Dems pushing for bad mortgages to be given out to people who can't afford the houses. This was all pushed by the Dems onto Fannie and Freddie. Then when two companies start getting into fraudulent practices, the Dems in congress backed them up. Now everyone acts surprised 8 years later when they realize that those bad mortgages are screwing the entire credit sector. Bush warned the Congress no less than 17 different times that Freddie and Fannie were going cause significant damage to the economy and here we are. All the while, Franks, Dodd, the rest of the Dems and Obama's own law firm were defending Fannie and Freddie.

Go figure, the American people don't remember their history very well... there's a big surprise!
