Would Obama, Dems Kill 401(k) Plans?

Poor government monetary track record

The government's track record shows that they are the last people who should be managing our retirement funds or at least the last people we should seek financial advice from. I read this blog a couple months ago concerning this very topic. The blogger points out the staggering effects if this came to be. Check it out.

401 K, 457, Roth

Just one more fine example of the Pelosi crowd. I will pull out every cent, and put it CD's. Forget the lost money. Let the stock market go straight down.

Obama cannot leave anything alone. The Democrats are so drunk on power, they disgust me.

government takeover of 401K accounts

Note to the Federal Government: Keep your thieving hands off of our 401K funds. You already squandered our Social Security funds. Why would the American people trust you with our personal retirement savings?

401k Socialist Theft

Any moron who supports Obama and his tax cheating Treasury chief taking our retirement 401ks -- so they can spend the money NOW -- is deserving of the slavish poverty and government dependency that they are trying to call down on all of us.

Freedom of choice, freedom of the market, and freedom of speech, NOT government socialism!

Retirement accounts

Didn't Bill Clinton use the so called "Social Security Surplus" to balance the budget when he was in office and put IOUs in the fund? Do not recall reading that it was put back either-all you hear now is Soc Sec is almost broke-If the money was put back--it would not be broke - If Washington would hire all of us that grew up in the 30s,40s & 50's to administer all these so called bailouts, Tarps, Mortgage loans, free money for nonsense programs, I'll guarantee there would be no mismanagement of funds. All would have to sign out for the money, bring receipts for what was purchased etc, even a pencil and tablet. PROVE WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING- We are the generation of workers that were reliable, hard working, honest, and high morals and your word was your bond. Was taught to give an honest days work. Maybe"we" should teach some of the old cronnies in Washingtonin a course in honest spending-no foolishness slipped in--After all, we are the generation with a degree in LIFE. Why say you Washington?

KILLING THE 401k - GOOD IDEA OR NOT?

Question.....since we're becoming a socialist country, does the stock market and Warren Buffett's prognostigations on it's future mean anything? One correction to the article above, Ms Ghilarducci's plan calls for 3% return above inflation (if inflation is 3.5% you get 6.5%)....Does this change anyone's opinion?

would obama and congress kill 401k?

Thanks for a great interview.

If the doubters still do not know what "spreading the welth means" listen carefully to this 'social' professor talk and get informed about your 401k.

Remember: socialism has not worked!

better socialism than sorry

Sorry, but I dont' want MY money, that I worked so hard for, in the hands of greedy capitalists. Look around you Mr. Pethokoukis, people are getting screwed out of their retirement funds left and right.

Socialism is not a bad word.

Better than Privatized

With how things are going in the privatized market, people getting screwed out of their pensions and 401K's left and right by people like Kenneth Lay and Madoff, I'd rather have my future money in the hands of a guaranteed program than in the hands of greedy capitalists.

SOCIALISM IS NOT A BAD WORD

redherkey

Well, well, well what a shout of stupidity. The elderly have given what they need to. They have worked all their lives, been to war and have kept the economy going to ensure that people such as you can eat.

What about getting these young pant dragging idiots off their rear ends and going to work. It might would show them what the world is about. Ahhh, how silly of me, young people working, what was I thinking.

Redherkey, you should take your head out of the sand and speak with it, not what you sit on.
