Just to clarify, Bill Clinton was the president on 10/22/99. Okay he really wasn't much of a President by then, more of a political punching bag, but I digress. That was the date when Clinton repealed Glass-Steagall, allowing banks, insurance companies and brokerage comapnies to integrate. It' his signature on the bill and it was all downhill from there. Last time I looked he was a Democrat, though you might not have thought so by the way he campaigned for Obama.
