Frum is a fraud

Frum can't hold Kudlow's jock and knows it. He's an arrogant fake, a phony and a man who has a tough time telling the truth. Anybody that has met the man knows that he has a hard time with competent women, perfering the barbie-doll, dumb type. He created a tag line for a dope president years ago, has traded off that for way too long and has nothing meaningful to say anymore. Anybody that saw him on Madcow a few weeks ago or heard what he said about Sarah Palin (anotehr solid citizen who intimidates/threatens him like Kudlow) knows what a confused dope he really is. Frum is an example of a RINO gone rabid. Just because you are in the tank for Israel, does not make you a conservative.

It is "the greatest story never told", indeed.

It has been a good eight years, I am a part time nurse, my son is a steel worker. We have jobs, we're decently paid, We have our 403(B) and 401(K), we pay less income taxes (Except property tax) and save the tax refund in our Roth-IRA. We don't do drug nor having drinking problem, do not use credit card. We owe a house and a car, enjoy the security - not being bombed by the terrorist, enjoy the good affordable food and cheap Walmart staff, and I can donate a few hundred dollars per year to an orphanage , pray for peace and the return of our troops when the time is right. The Bush administration must have done a good job these 8 years for common folks like us to live well and secured in these 8 years time, considering we had tech bubbles, recession, and 9-11 to begin with, then corporate scandels, and Catrina, etc.

Productivity

The increase in US productivity does not mean the worker is doing more work. The worker and the employer have found ways to increase the output with less labor, more efficient processes, newer technology such as robotics. In reality, the worker may even be working less in this enhanced productivity. In other words, increased productivity does not mean increased work. The usual meaning of increased productivity is more output with less labor.

Kudlow dangerous?

I find it interesting that liberals find anyone a threat that does not subscribe to their socio-economic veiwpoint. I do not believe Larry Kudlow is anything like a bible thumping redneck, I havent seen him at any of our meetings.

Kudlow is The Master . . . .

Larry Kudlow is a master at the things he does. Did any of you see his interview with Hank Paulson? He asked the questions that the brain-dead media wouldn't think of asking. The interview is a classic resource, not just to understand the mind of a former capitalist turned socialist, but for the information Paulson intentionally obfuscated and dodged.

On his regular show, Kudlow is unapologetic for his free market capitalist point of view. However, nearly the entire show is devoted to a range of guests, more right and more left of Kudlow's political views. Mixed in is candor and insight by guests that features specific investment advice---advice worth thousands of dollars, now available to us, the great unwashed, at no additional cost to your cable TV bill.

All the while, Larry Kudlow artfully educates (complete with charts) and advocates clearly his free market point of view. There are damn few enough articulate and unashamed voices for capitalism. If you're one, i.e., a capitalist, it seems to me foolish to knit-pick about Larry Kudlow---in my opinion a genuine champion of the only economic system in history that brings hope to all and the most opportunity to the greatest number of souls on earth. Contrary to popular belief, it works every time its tried and keeps the snoring politicians out of our lives and pockets---when properly applied.

I'd also be hard pressed to recall hypocrisy or, more importantly, any serious issue he has advocated "without a shred of evidence." That's ridiculous. Kudlow has taken credit for his views and admitted he failed to judge certain things properly, when he has been wrong. What do you do?

Jimmy P, thanks for the facts of the matter.

Welcome to right wing crazytown

"Income inequality has exploded. Wrong!"

So you are arguing that income inequality has not increased because PRICES are lower?

Are we not talking about INCOME. Rich people can buy stuff from China also. And these days they can buy more and more of it.

This is the craziest argument I have heard anyone try to make... stunning.

Sid of CT @ Oct 17, 2008 06:02:43 AM

Pethokoukis is full of baloney

The arguments coming from Pethokoukis are so out of line with reality that it is almost silly to respond.I can only speak from the experience of an average middle class wage earner in this country.I do know that many economists would dispute the fairy tale that wages have kept up with prices in this country. Here is my own study based on my experience in the last five years and those of my co-workers. My wages have gone up no more than 3% each of the last five years. Meanwhile, the cost of almost all of my utilities are up around 100%. As far as food goes, here is just one example that tells the story. Five years ago I could purchase a small pizza for $6.39 from a local pizzeria. Today that same pizza costs $9.53. The govt. has a vested interest in pretending that inflation is less than it actually is. Cooking the inflation books means lower cost of living increases for social security recipients. Most of those receiving social security benefits desperately need them in order to barely survive. People like Pethokoukis and Kudlow live out their greedy , disgusting, and pathetic lives in ivory towers far away from the average American.

average vs median wage

The 11% is "average real pretax earned income per worker". It would be better to mention median wage. I would argue that when income distribution gets more skewed, an increase in average wage can be caused by top earners.
