Beats more spending without more taxes

You can't spend money - especially fund trillion dollar wars and multi-trillion dollar bailouts - without having the funds to do it without seriously devaluing the dollar and indenturing our great, great grandchildren to paying off the national debt. If you want to talk about recessionary indicators, a devalued dollar causes a rise in price for everything. I fail to understand why people object to actually HAVING the money there to spend if you're going to spend it in the first place. Check the record: Under Republican presidents, government debt went up almost 100% (It doubled). Under Democratic leadership, the national debt went up at most about a third (about 33%). More Republican presidents have led us into recession or depression. More Democratic presidents have led us out of recession or depression. The 'conservative agenda' has proven to be a failure for the US government, but a great boon to businesses - who ran amok and destroyed the US economy. Again, thanks to the Republican agenda.

Frankly, I don't mind paying more in taxes if I know the money is going to be spent wisely. Lambasting the liberals for future spending while ignoring the egregiously mismanaged spending of the current leadership is like cursing the clouds before they rain. Or guessing how many eggs you're going to get before you collect them.

It's not tax and spend that bothers you. It's the tax part. Because the Republicans have spent about as much in the last eight as than all other government spending in the history of the US in terms of dollars. And the deficit, under Bush, has almost tripled. With that kind of 'fiscally responsible' leadership, maybe it's about time we tried tax and spend. We sure as hell can't take any more of this spend without taxing.

Habit or addiction?

Spending other people's money gets to be easier and easier the more of it they spend.
