How McCain Can Mount a Comeback

Dream on

The Republicans are so desperate that they will use any type of twisted logic to somehow see their candidate as the winner in all this. He's not up to the job, he has no core beliefs, and he is mesmerized with thoughts of being big and powerful. How sad. He used to be a decent person. Now, he's confused. Signs of early dementia?

comeback

Your boy is a terrible presidential candidate. He made a deal with the devil following the 2000 election and now literally can't tell up from down. The more he tries to recover "himself" the more you are reminded of what might have been. No sense of timing. No plan to win.

Tough luck.

Replacement of Running Mate

If McCain was serious about not losing the election, he'd have to replace his running mate with someone like Romney. It's plain for all to see.

His running mate is a like a torpedo that will permanently sink this campaign.

OK, I'll have faith

Thank you Catherine & others -- OK, I'll have faith. /but I thought McCain would drop the bombshell at the first debate & disagree with the bailout plan there. I thought he didn't say anything at the White House meeting because he was reserving it for the debate. A surprise, like choosing Palin. But, nothing! I was so disappointed. The taxpayers were ready to be won over by someone who talked sense, and respected them. Who wasn't intimidated by all the financial details of those who claim that the system is just too complex for the issues to be understood by ordinary mortals. And they're not--I know, I'm a business phd. McCain, and Palin, for that matter, need to not be intimidated by the details, to know that they can communicate with and take control of the situation. Ronald Reagan did it and he was no economist or foreign policy expert. He had a few principles to which he was committed and he used them to understand and form a position on the events of the day. It's so easy to lose one's courage in the face of "experts" who let you know in every imaginable way that they know and you don't. Leadership is at least partly having the courage to express convictions in the face of those who hide behind degrees and technical jargon and guru speak to stop you from leading. But it's hard to stand up to this. However it's the promise of the McCain/Palin ticket and now is the time for them to stand up. Stand up for us, John and Sarah. The American people will back you.

McCain cann't perform it.

John McCain missed so many opportunities in the debate. It is a shame. Obama gave him opening repeatly to counter-attack, yet, he just stood there babbling. He's done. Too bad, with Obama/Biden, unlike so called MSM, I think any two governors team (Rommy, Chris, Pawlenty, or even Huckbee) can win this. All of them can speak economy in a way people can understand and all are outside of Washington with excutive branch experience. McCain cann't do it.

One BIG clue...

I am a volunteer with the McCain campaign here in Okaloosa County, FL. Unlike the 2004 election the national McCain campaign has left all the state campaigning to the local outfits. In fact, our county party had to order McCain-Palin material from our own budget. Nothing was subsidized by the national or state parties. Rush also mentioned this week that in his travels he's seen nary a McCain sign anywhere. He went as far to accuse the McCain campaign as lacking a "ground game". It's a replay of the joke of a campaign that Bob Dole tried to run in 1996. (I worked on that one too.)

What was so wonderful about "W" was that he had his own people and they came in and worked with the various state, county, and civic GOP groups and things got done. It's been over a month and we here in this part of Florida have not heard from the McCain campaign about materials.

I understand that there might be a reason behind this, but it sure makes the appearance of a lack of energy and drive in the campaign. Has this been a problem in other states?

MCCAIN IS MADDENING!!!

It's like Rush said at the beginning of this week (22 Sept.). Obama is a "sitting duck" on this issue of the economy. This is mainly due to the Democrats have dirty hands on the majority of this mess. (Yes, the buck stops at the President's desk and he's just as guilty as the Dems are. BUT....) But, McCain refuses to go after it. Why he is so reluctant to go after Obama on the issues is getting more and more maddening and aggrivating by the minute. He can win by a landslide if he would just do what he has to do to win and that's attack, attack, attack, and attack. Negative ads don't mean, necessarily, attacking the other candidate. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL MCCAIN TO GO FOR THE JUGULAR!!!!

Bubba Herd Mentality

The McCain campaign has relied so much on "imagery" and 'gimmickry" lacking any issues based substance that matter to the vast amount of hard working middle class working class Americans whom have carried on their put your backs into it aching backs and paid the freight for this country for so long – getting if any trickle down economic scraps from those big greedy fat cats top wage earning percentile - that most Americans (excluding the GOP base of the "Bubba Herd Mentality") refuse to be fooled anymore, and will not take it anymore!

McCain Needs to Fight

I cannot believe John McCain is taking all of this so calmly! As stated in another comment...the ammo is there. How many doors have to be opened before he takes the bait and enters. I am shocked at the missed opportunities!!! I have almost come to the conclusion that if the Great Senator from Arizona is not going to fight for the highest office in the land ... Why did he accept the nomination??? There are only five weeks left until election day. I realize a lot can happen in 35 days, but McCain needs to get energized, excited, and at least come off as someone who is trying to win the presidency!!!
