Do Most Companies Really Pay No Taxes?

There is no left right paradigm on taxes, only what is fair and unfair.

Until these people are willing to honestly and openly discuss the issues of taxes that any intelligent person knows to be true they wont be taken seriously. As we've seen by this latest election you can only rile up so many unintelligent people to your cause so they're fighting a losing battle.

Until we hear 'real tax rates' in a discussion on tax you can be sure they're not interested in tax fairness.

Come to the table with honesty and truthfulness and you will be taken seriously. Until then you're just another shill desperate to game the system in the favor of those you represent.

The days of this working is over. The middle class knows they're getting the raw end of the deal. Their wages are going down, they're getting less services, and their dollar is not going as far. All the while the rich get richer.

Everytime entries like this are posted it just weakens the position the poster seeks to strengthen. You can fool some of the people some of the time but you cant fool all the people all the time.

In the eyes of most you people are transparent to the point of unintended humor.

What you fail to account for is that with corporations paying a corporate tax, the money is subject to DOUBLE TAXATION< thereby sending more of the money to DC. The reason they file as S Corps is because they're saving money.

Then again, I'm sure you're brighter than all those MBAs in Finance advising these corporations, right?

Hey, Arizona, I pay all those other taxes that "AP apparently missed" as well, and I STILL have to pay income tax! I calculated it out and realized I'm working nearly three months of the year for taxes...the well paid hot shot corporate executives don't have to work for free....I work just as hard, not only in my "real" job, but also also as a struggling artist trying to make sales. "Tom" is right...I am a fool who's being ripped off on a daily basis. So Tom, where did you move, I wanna come too, LOL...

Nonsense and Ridiculous Excuses

Redefining all this by which corporations are "Large" and which ones are not, and the Cato Institute deception that Many LLCs are filing as individuals is SMOKE AND MIRRORS.

The fact of the matter is that if YOU ACTUALLY WORK FOR YOUR MONEY, you are a fool, and are completely ripped off by a government bought and paid for my corporations. The corporations make $Trillions each year and contribute less than anybody.

It's thoroughly disgraceful, and I'm very proud not to have anything to do with the United States anymore.

One side effect of SOX is it forced many businesses to reclassify as LLCs and S Corporations. Thus, as mentioned above, these corporations do not pay corporate income taxes, but are pass through entities and transfer its income to the individual partners and shareholders. It is an effective tax dodge, but I think the current tax rate for individuals is higher than corporate taxes, so having a high corporate tax rate acts a tax increase on partners and shareholders.

Also, the AP story also forgot to mention that these same corporations that are posting losses still pay a variety of other taxes, such as FICA, state and local sales and use taxes, excise taxes, SALT taxes, etc., etc., etc.

Unfortunately, taxes are still a liberal/conservative issue. As long as liberal politicians believe in redistributing wealth in the name of "fairness" we will always have those who will keep taxes high on corporations (even though these taxes are passed on to consumers in the former of higher prices and to workers in the form of reduced compensation) and on rich folks (even though it is these people who are the primary inducers of investment and thuse economic growth in our economy). Obtuseness and Ludditism has become the mantra of Democrats and liberals of late, and this is all summed up in their Messiah that they have chosen to be their standardbearer.
