Dissecting Al Gore's $5 Trillion Energy Plan

Al Gore's Energy Plan

Humans have systematically been on a path of destruction of the the earth and their environment for a very long time. If we hope to survive and have a decent quality of life, clean, alternative energy sources must be a priority for all of us or planet Earth will continue to deteriorate and most of the life that depends on it will peris, sooner than we think.

We have a choice in this matter. We can our spend our money on developing clean, renewable energy sources that will give humans and the planet on which we live a chance to survive and thrive, or we can choose not to spend our money on developing clean, renewable energy, continue on as we have been and let the planet and people perish.

Personally, I choose life and doing everything we can to save it.

Al Gore

I have a very low opinion of Mr. Gore. We have been inundated with his self righteousness for too long. It is regretable that our news sources be it tv, radio, newspapers, and others venues, continue to give credibility to individuals and groups whose earthly concerns are more how can "we" control and have power over the people than their so called concerns for the enviornment. May common sense and and true facts shine above all misinformation, lies, and inuendo that will beseige us as we close in on the November elections.

Do Nothing Drastic

I am sure you are well aware of what happens when emotions play into science. You get false data that is NOT proven, even by a long shot. Before pouring a single dime into fixing a problem that probably does not exist, lets put the money to use for problems we really do face, such as the defense of our nation.

Al Gore is a Hypocrite, say's Pickens the Robber Barron !

"The Insane Truth" The Rantings of a madman !

Al Gore is the biggest Hypocrite alive today, he paid nearly $30,000 in 2006 for Electricy and Natural gas in his home. Not to mention flying around the world in private jets and the gas guzzling SUV's that he owns. Now that's an incovenient truth ! So, therefore who has the credibility here ? The oilman (Boone Pickens) or the Tree Hugger ( Al Gore )? The fact is this, Pickens is not just and "oil man" he is a brilliant businessman, don't kid yourself for a second. He is positioning himself to profit from the tree hugger histeria that is prevelant today. You have to ask yourself, " why would an oilman care about wind farms ? He smells money my friend, and a lot of it if he can pioneer the projects, secure huge government contracts, and convince investors to put there coin into it, and he will. "Not to mention all the natural gas he is going to sell you, shhhhhhhh, thats a secret ! " Furthermore Al Gore is a Socialist Evironmental Elitist, his agenda is to condition us little people to quit using up the worlds resources so he, and his likes may continue their priveleged lifestyles. Pickens is a Capatilist Elitist, and the likes of both of them around the world (The SuperClass)have finally manipulated their own interest into alignment my friends. check out"""Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making""" by David Rothkopf.

The speculators have drivin up the price of oil, the Oilmen of the world are getting fat, rich and Happy, and the Environmentalist are reveling with delite that the price of gas is so high, that it is punishing the world to the breaking point, ripe and ready for picking ! They are both getting what they want, dont you see ! I would also like to add that, in Oklahoma, where oil is King, we are currently drilling like crazy (if you can find an oil rig with which to drill with), most were melted down and made into SUV's in the last 2 decades. But were not drilling for much oil at all ! Yup, were not sucking much oil out the ground around here. GUESS WHAT WERE DRILLIN FOR ? That's right, you guessed it "NATURAL GAS" But lets not leave out the commodity that the Liberal socialist Elitist want to sell you, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO MY INVISIBLE FREIND, THE PET ROCK OF THE 21ST CENTURY. You cant burn it, no no, you cant eat it, no no, hell you cant even see it because its the bohoosiery of the Milinium folks, BEHOLD "THE CARBON CREDIT" ! And if Mastercard and Visa get in on it and introduce the "CARBON CREDIT CARD", you wont BE ABLE TO LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT ! Its all coming down the Pike my friends, mark my words. So, what do we do ?

ALL OF THE ABOVE ? Drill here, Drill Now, force the US Oil Companies to "use it or loose it" Didnt drill on this Government land lease this year huh ? LEASE CANCELLED, NEXT !

You make a mess on the land, clean it up or GO TO JAIL ! Oh, and we only pay you a fee for producing, transporting and refining oil from public land, the profits go back to the public to pay off the national debt, to reinvest in renewables infrastructure, and to clean up the messes you made in the past. Lets do Solar, Lets do wind farms, lets do Nuclear, lets do it all and FAST we dont really have a choice people. We really do have to reduce our dependence on FORIEGN F-ING EVERYTHING. Or at least until Roy Masters builds his machine that will make electricity from gravity, God help him, I pray he succeeds ! But even if we had free energy, some A-hole business man, or Global Government would figure out a way to make you pay for it anyway ! Whether it was a royalty fee, or Carbon Credit usage fee or whatever, we will always be slaves to the world ! (yes, yes, I am completely mad ole chap) having spoke about reducing our dependence on Foreign oil, Boone Pickens is from the ANTI-PROTECTIONIST idiology, Hmmmmmmmmm wants to reduce oil imports, but wants to be able to import his manufacutured oilfield equipment(and next will be imported wind turbines)... Hmmmmmm, yup he's a Hypocrite too ! You see folks, Al and Boone are both Hypocrites serving their own personal interest. However, we do need to "protect and serve our own American interest" But we cant have it both ways, if I hear one more polititian name calling someone a "PROTECTIONIST, PROTECTIONIST" like a schoolboy on the playground im going to PUKE ! You protect your children dont you ? We all are protectionist on some level.

And so it is time that we have to HOLD WASHINGTON'S FEET TO THE FIRE ! I say FIRE THEM ALL !! Its time that they start "PROTECTING" the interest of the American people and to hell with the rest of the World. Get off your Asses and start serving the will of the "AMERICAN PEOPLE", and NOT your own. And we as a People of this great nation (sound like Obama huh) need to get off our asses and start participating more in our government affairs. But with the Presidential Candidates we are STUCK WITH ! We are in deep doo doo my freinds ! The very possibility of some backwoods, buthole skinhead bustin a cap in Obama's Marxist ass, would make the Rodney King Riots look like a "School yard Scuffle" compared to the Racial meltdown we are going to have in this country. You Democrats BLEW IT MAN, Hillary was your only safe bet, or was she ? (socialist Agenda) ! And McCain, a captured and torchured vietnam vetran (Thank you John for serving our Country) but as your Phyciatrist I would advise you not to ever endeavor in an occupation that would expose you to regular stressfull situations, oh like, Aircraft Controller, or being the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES ! Can you say "MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE"(Rent the Movie, its not just fiction) you are a Comprimised piece of tainted meat John my freind, I love ya man, but you need to retire and hang out at the Local VFW, and tell war stories. But its to late my friends, the table has been set, AND WE THE PEOPLE OF THIS UNITED STATES, are the main course. "he says grinning while the orderlies wheel him off to his padded cell"

Insanity or Thuth, That is the question ?

The End.

Command economies don't solve climate problems

When we talk about investing in a carbon free future, we are assuming that we already know the best method of achieving that future. With a command economy-style effort to achieve this goal we are forced to put all our eggs in one basket, even if we use multiple types of energy. Not only are the costs extraordinarily high, but it would be extremely hard to adjust our policy as new technological developments occurred.

On the other hand, the free-market, can adjust to new developments and gradually implement cleaner technology as costs decrease.Circumventing that process with government central planning would be a disastrous waste of wealth.

Josh of OH @ Jul 25, 2008 12:54:46 PM

Boone Pickens has it wrong

Pickens is smart, but I think he has this one wrong.

You cannot get rid of oil imports by replacing that energy with domestic sources. That kind of thinking assumes that there is a fixed demand, and the problem is simply to find the supply that is required to meet that fixed demand.

In fact, it works almost exactly the other way around. The economy uses all of the resources that are available. Free markets arrange to use those resources to maximize the benefit (by some measure). We are always resource-limited, there are no limits on how much we want to accomplish.

Adding new energy sources will help our economy, but as long as we can put foreign imports of oil to profitable use, we will continue to import foreign oil. And, by Say's Law, we will always be able to find a use for them.

The only thing that will slow our imports is for the rest of the world to develop its productivity to the point that global demand for oil matches our own demand.

Wars for Oil Will Cost More than Alternative Energy

Bottom Line: If Iraq wasn't rich in oil, would we have really cared enough about Iraq to invade? I realize there were many other factors that resulted in the invasion but control of the oil fields is undoubtedly one of the main objectives although not part of the propaganda war. (I was all for the invasion and I am currently a soldier in Iraq).

I can't help but think, "What if we didn't invade Iraq and, instead, used all the money and resources for development of alternative energy?" If we did AND succeeded, would we really care about Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia who control most of the world's oil? If we were energy independent, these countries would have little influence on the U.S., and I feel we wouldn't be so concerned with their actions and types of governments.

I've never been a big Al Gore fan, but I feel he and T. Boone Pickens are on the right track with respect to energy plans. Due to peak oil, countries will continue to fight wars to control the world's oil supply. Wars will cost trillions and will also result in the loss and destruction of many, many lives. I am in Iraq now, I don't want to have to come back and especially don't want my kids to have to come here in the next 10 to 20 years. A new U.S. infrastructure for alternative energy will be massive, similar to Eisenhower's highway project; however, if it creates independence and peace, not to mention jobs, it is well worth the investment.

Carbon Free Electrical Energy:

What a great opportunity we have to get started on energy independence from the oil sheiks. I am whole hardily in favor of Al Gore's challenge. I welcome it.

alarmism

There aren't many people left who deny that global warming is a very real problem, and I certainly am not one of them. Global warming is too important a problem to hastily piece together a plan that appeals to conventional wisdom but not careful empricial scrutiny.

We need a realistic appraisal of just how severe the problem is in the short-term before we sacrifice vast amounts of wealth in order to stop it. We need to know exactly is achieved if our carbon emissions are eliminated in thirty years instead of fifty? If the additional twenty years of expediency cost society $10-15 trillion, shouldn't we at least make some sort of effort to determine how we're going to foot the bill and where the additional costs will lie?

Here's your alternative solution: approach the issue from a rational and not religious perspective (REPENT! TURN FROM YOUR EVIL CAPITALIST WAYS-- THE RAPTURE IS AT HAND!!). Make at least some effort to determine if a lower-cost solution is viable, and, if not, introduce the plan more gradually to reduce the economic shock that will have a very real effect on this nation's poor and working class families. We absolutely should be committed to combatting global warming, but we cannot abandon our other commitments for the sake of expediency.

Analysis based on research, please

This article is not good journalism. There is no attempt to interview anyone, to read anything, to get an expert opinion. Just a few off the cuff calculations, without any attempt to see how much Gore's plan might generate in new economic activity. One thing is certain, Gore's plan will produce far more wealth that throwing away as much as $1 billion every day in the idiotic Iraq War. Making a tank or anything else and sending it to Iraq does not create wealth for anyone expect government contractors.
