taxes will not lead this nation to prosperity

Either of the candidates will have to change their economic policy to reflect reality rather then what they would like reality to be.

Obama would like to promote his causes, but the reality is that American taxpayers are having to deal with a failing housing system costs, very possibly increased gas taxes for infrastructure, higher energy costs, higher government spending, higher taxes at the State and local level, failing schools and higher expenses for schools, and baby boomers reaching retirement age to name a few.

There are limits to how much tax payers will take before they decide it isn't worth it to be productive. Its fast reaching there. It isn't going to help the economy if people decide they do not gain enough economic benefit from work to continue working and minimum wage would have to be increased drastically before they went back to work.

To Doug of OH: Sounds like you have it all figured out. While you're on your soap-box why don't you tell us all the wonderful things McCain has done for us in his many years in congress that Obama has, in your opinion, failed to do. You blame congress for all the hare-brained legislation that Bush passed. Could he not have vetoed items he did not see fit? You also have to keep in mind that Senator Obama will not sit up there on a throne and single-handedly rule America. He will have a carefully selected team of advisors in everything from national security to immigration policies. People look for skeletons in Obama's closet and things to smear him on (Barack eats arugula from whole foods while the rest of us are forced to each iceburg lettuce from WalMart!OMG!) Barack will make a great president. So will you tell us about McCain's stellar performance while in the senate?

Saw it coming a long time ago

Many people are selling assets in the belief that Big O may get elected and increase capital gains taxes. Selling begets more selling. Democrats in congress and running Fannie Mae required banks to greatly lower lending standards for home loans, student loans, auto loans, etc. so that everyone could "own" a home, get an "education", and "own" a car, whether they could afford it or not. They pocketed untold billions in bonuses and political contributions. The "independent" rating agencies collected massive fees from the very security issuers that they rated. And lied. Now that the US savers, foreigners, pensions (including yours) etc that bought this "AAA" trash are not getting paid, they will no longer buy any more. You as taxpayers will. Pretty good trick. Make them lend it to you, and then make the taxpayers pay for it. You keep your old dollar assets. I will survive and prosper. Too bad there were no real Americans running either government or business.

FairTax is our only hope...

The tax substitution of a retail sales tax (23%) instead of a corporate tax (22%) will keep prices virtually the same and our total paychecks in our pockets, with a monthly U.S. citizen prebate to boot! We're doomed with either candidate's plan to tax earnings over spending.
