A Pale Ron Paul? Skimpy Agenda for Libertarian Bob Barr

Back to blog

Barr's a wuss

Flat tax? Go back to the GOP Mr. Barr.

A libertarian being consistent to principle would have to call for the repeal of all taxes.

Ron Paul is a start with him wanting to abolish the income tax.

Obama and McCain's solutions?

Ok, so the libertarian candidate doesn't have a line by line solution so you think he's worthless. Yet McCain and Obama can be as vague as "less entitlements" or "tax the rich" and that's just peachy.

You're just disappointed that you weren't provided with enough ammo after your huge amount of research (going to one web site) in order to discredit the small government (that thing that you worship) folks.

Of course the agenda is skimpy

Bob Barr isn't very libertarian, and WAR is even less so.

Time-tested Stategy Uninteresting

Bob Barr's general calls for reduction in government spending, tax reform, etc, seem boring and inadequate to libertarians. But it's a time-tested strategy for getting votes without giving specifics. Whether it works this year remains to be seen, but the selection of well-known candidates should get more media attention. In the mean time, Libertarians should focus on local and Congressional races. Those are what really count in the long run.

Hey Einstein...

Yea, just send me all your "worthless, flat paper money". That's their issue, the gold standard, what's next ? promote Earth, Fire, Air, Water, as the Ron Paul Science Solution?

Misrepresentation

One can't "print" gold or silver coins. Why did you deliberately convey false information by saying that Ron Paul "has called for...allow[ing] citizens to print their own currency"? Ron Paul campaigned against the idea of the government or the Fed "printing money". What he has called for is competing currencies: allowing private mints (such as Liberty Dollar) to produce real gold and/or silver coins and to allow the market to determine which is the more valuable, the gold and silver coins, or the worthless, fiat paper money that is printed by the Federal Reserve Bank and has debt as its backing. The government wouldn't like that idea because they know that people would much rather deal with precious metal coins (or at least receipts that are backed by gold and/or silver coins) than with their less than worthless paper. Give me a break.

Competing currencies is not printing your own money

Way to take an underhanded jab at Dr. Paul at the end. Competing currencies does not mean printing your own money. Btw, Dr. Paul is still actively campaigning for the Republican nomination so only the hardcore faction and the Beltway Libertarians have switched support to Barr. Everyone else is still supporting Ron Paul.

I wish Barr was a libertarian

Because I should try hard to support the candidate of my party. Unfortunately he isn't. He's just an unusual conservative, not a libertarian. His VP partner is uninformed about any ideology beond "yay me".
