A McCain-Huckabee Ticket? The Right Reacts

Huck for VP

Picking Huck for VP would be the smartest thing that McCain could do; Huck will pick up regions for McCain that quite frankly aren't so warmed to the idea of McCain for his stances on various social issues. Huck seems to be as straight-shooting as any candidate that I've seen in a long time and he seems to genuinely care about people.

If McCain picks him, he will have my vote and support, and I know quite a few folks that feel that way.

NRA humor?

Joking around about shooting a presidential candidate, from the other party, the first black candidate in history, in front of the NRA is criminal, not to mention sinful. There is truth in sarcasm and you've just crossed the line to the dark side. Humor or no humor, your asinine comment was offensive and moronic. It deserves more than just an apology.

GOOD RIDDANCE HUCKABEEN!

Romulans

Nice to see you Romulans still bringing your brand of "wisdom" to try and discredit Gov. Mike Huckabee...And oh so many psuedonyms....Gosh y'all are brilliant, to bad all your smarts weren't enough to get your guy in...nor will he be VP, unfortunately Nevada, and Utah are not enough to seal the deal.

LeighAnn:

But Gov. HuckaBEEN makes it so easy for us to discredit him! Like today at the NRA, when he disgustingly joked about having a gun pointed at Obama! What an idiot! After this, if McCain keeps HuckaBEEN on his list of potential veeps, I will seriously doubt McCains’s judgment and will vote for someone else!

Guns and the motormouth

Geewhiz what an idiot. How can you watch that painful clip at the NRA and even attempt to defend this dolt? Does that sound like a "Christian Leader" to anyone here? Only if he preaches at the same church as Wright!

To the democrats: Please do not associate all of us with this goofball. Most republicans and christians are decent people that could never say something like this. Hopefully we don't see alot of shortsighted huckfans rush out to defend this. And if we're lucky, Huckabee will make a new attempt at a sincere apology and will take responsibility not only for the words but the creton thoughts that gave them birth. If you give him a benefit of a doubt, he's just very intent on making himself out to be funny and he holds the importance of being a funny gomer higher than the political substance of his persona - or lack thereof. What are his core beliefs? Confession and a true change of heart and mind would be in order. I guess we'll see how sincere his faith is.

Romney is smart, Huckabee is an idiot salesman

There is only one person that will be on McCain's ticket....Gov Mitt Romney! He's very intelligent, problem solver and I think will add big time to the lack of attention that Sen McCain is getting lately. Being from the South, we need smarts first for our Country's problems. We need ethical and faithful and smart....we need to contrast with the Left. Romney will tear apart Clinton or Obama. Remember, if Sen McCain and Gov Huckabee hadn't have played the cheap shots, we'd be looking at a very competitive race with Gov Romney at the head of the ticket.

Wake up.....Please VP Romney. I will look to the other side if McCain picks the preacher.

huckabee as a vp?

After I heard Huckabee say in a debate that most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were "clergy", I just thought he didn't know much about American History. For the record, only one, John Witherspoon, was "clergy." However, after his "joke" today before the NRA about Obama ducking thinking it was a gunshot, I think he's a scary person. I am 62 and recall as a young college student experiencing the assasinations of JFK, RFK, and MLK, not to mention the assasination attempts on Presidents Ford and Reagan. If Huckabee thinks a joke like that is funny, something is dreadfully wrong with the man.

Re: I think it's a biased article

I completely agree with you, Grant of CA! I also think the unnamed source is fishy, and that Huckabeen would totally destroy the ticket. And as you stated, "religious right leaders made it clear they will not vote for McCain", so what's the point of having this ethically-challenged loser on the ticket?

Shelby of WA @ May 16, 2008 11:48:47 AM

No one compares to Mike!

I had never even heard of Mike Huckabee before the first Republican presidential debate. As I listened to all the candidates speak I was unimpressed. Each one spewed the typical political jargon. All except one. Each time Mike spoke I turned to my son and said, "who is that guy, he is actually saying something and making sense." Mike does make sense. He is the only one who makes sense in this crazy election. He is also the only person that can bring in the evangelical vote for McCain, something desperately needed to defeat the dems. If John McCain is smart he will pick Mike for VP!

Comment to HUCKABEE OVERSIGHT

You are thinking with your head!!. You are looking at policies!! I wish more people were issue based in their comments. Too many are thinking about personal agendas and not the best interests of America. What does your neighbor need? What does does your community need? Why do we need someone who is likeable and charismatic? What has that got to do with anything?? This is not High School and this is not a popularity contest. Our nation's future and the future of our families and children are at stake here. Wake up call! We need to stop the bickering and the name calling and the hurtful comments. There is much that needs to change in Washington and we better send the best to do it!. That person will not be perfect, but he better be ready to give his all in defending and upholding the princples that Amercia was founded on. Character and principle is more important in the Oval Office than likeability and charismatic talk. Our Presidnet must not get sucked into the political Merry-Go_Round of greed, pride, power, and ambition. We need someone that look outside himself and his own desires and will become a public servant to the United States of Amercia. We need someone who will truly have the interests and welfare of the Amercian people in his heart. I know without who that person is.....do you? The Media is the last year have smeared and shamed all the candidates and I think it is difficult for any of us to get past the lies that have been told about every candidate, but we better get past it and see the men and women as they truly are. They are not as evil as many are painting them and they certainly are not "perfect" either. Go and look for the candidate that will best strengthen our failing economy, defend our liberties, protect and strength our families, educate our people, provide the necessities of life for all, give us chance to become all that we can be. Watch for someone who has been able to do that in his or her own life. That example alone tells us who knows how it is to be done.
