Obama-Clinton Debate in Philadelphia Spawns Weird Economics

Spoil what? Waste what? Steal what?

Barack Obama we do not doubt your intelligence. To be an effective leader one must display honesty, compassion, & guts. Stand with Ralph Nader, Ron Paul, & Cynthia McKinney. NOT John McCain. Your choice - your move.

Deborah / what a sham

Its time for change... out with the old in with young and new. New Ideas will create wealth , energy independence and an overall reshaping of Washington . Why would anybody not want that? Hillary and Bill made $109 MILLION ... Yes i said $109 MILLION ... They are taken care of for life and should leave the political scene. Idolize no one / benefit everyone . people who wear pearls and dont make there own dinner usually serve people who dont make there own dinner and wear pearls. Its about the little people now . There needs to be a salary cap for people in Govt. If elected . I promise to serve the people who voted for me not the corporations who will pay me millions when i get out. Wake Up Deborah

Capital Gains is a tax on the rich

God everyone here is stupid and even the guy who wrote this crappy article is stupid and hoping you're stupid too. The fact is that more than 80% of the people who pay capital gains taxes make more than $200,000 per year. Also, Obama may have done a bad job in the debate but he has said before that he plans on exempting those who make less than $250,000 per year from his capital gains tax hikes.

Go here to learn about the capital gains

Deborah

Its time for a rotation. We do not live in a country where kings and queens serve for life. This is shameful. great she did wonderful for poor children. She and bill made $109 MILLION dollars last year. She has health care for life. This is not a High school popularity contest / Wiping Iran off the map is just continuing the same scare tactic/ inept policies that have been around for generations. Id rather Obama with a few newer ideas than continue with a queen who alread y has her pearls and diamonds. Talk to enemies. Realize some countries have a different view. Thats ok. Somebody who wants power desperately should not be in power. Take your pearls and diamonds put em up your a__ they will be safe there hillary

Ronald Reagon (not)???

I am not sure what planet you have been living on the last seven years, but I think you need to review your history! Seven years ago we were on our way into a recession coming out of the Clinton Admin that was only worried about protecting it's image in the face of a scandal. Then we had the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and fell into the recession. Bush taxes cuts next, then recovery, then 5 years of the greatest growth this country or the world has ever seen! Low inflation, low jobless rate, and the longest period in the markets with out a bear market in decades. People got greedy and felt that this would continue, just like the tech bubble, and now we are sufferring from the effects. It is called a market correction regardless if it is stock, bond, housing, etc. Not sure where you have been, but I have been living in the greatest country this planet has ever seen, enjoying safety for my family and prosperity for my fellow citizens. Do we have problems, yes, but to say cutting taxes doesn't work when your are looking at the last 9 months and saying the hard times started when a Republican went in the White House is showing your true bias. Clear your head before you write, and use intelligence instead of emotion. Good day!

Amazed

I am very surprised by the response of some in the public who think that Obama was unfairly stunned or thrown off by the debate, that the questions were somehow too tough.

This is a man who is asking to be the most powerful person in the world for 4 years. If he can't handle the stress of that debate (for which he could have easily prepared given that the questions were on topics circulating in the blogs and MSM for weeks if not longer), how is he going to handle the stress that comes with so much power?

Secondly, Obama's feeble response to the tax questions demonstrated that he is dogmatic and ideological--that his concern is to redistribute wealth even when the government will not generate any revenue (or will even lose revenue). He is rather ignorant of some basic economics (e.g., the Laffer Curve). At the end of the day, it won't be Wright or Ayers that leads to Obama's defeat at the general election. Rather, it is going to be his tax policy, which is going to harm most everyone earning over $50,000 a year.

it's not how hard you get hit, but how you take the punches and keep going. In her eyes...this younger generation who will guide our economic future...Hillary was the one. This has inspired me. Vote .... What a joke ... What a joke ... Hillary new full well for years what her husband was doing ... its not hard to take punches when you enjoy both diamonds and pearls ....hillary wants to desperatly be in the oval office ... which by itself should disqualify her .... power hungry ... doesnt care about the sheep shes herding ... nothing will change under hillary ... stay out of the herd ... politicians have health care for life ... they get raises for years before minimum wage is increased ... it s time to chnge the guard ... nobody should live in the white house ... That should be an office

Barack is the choice

Each election as I go through the list of candidates, it's hard to fall in love with any of them. So as a responsible voter, I have to choose the one that least repulses me. This year it would have to be Obama.

All of the well publicized stuff aside, Hillary Clinton just does not click for me. If in doubt at any time, all I have to do is to watch one of her campaign speeches to confirm the fact that I do not want her as my president. She just doesn't seem genuine, her enthusiasm and mannerisms are just way too fake.

To a much lesser degree, to me John McCain also does not seem genuine when hetries to sound soft and caring. Though he has been a flip-flopper on issues and is too old, I can overcome those with some justification. But his less-than-genuine delivery is really what makes it hard for me to connect the way I need to, in deciding to vote for him.

Obama with all his well-publicized faults, is a rock-star in the art of public speaking. He is a master communicator, perhaps the best I've seen in my lifetime, articulate, with lots of charm and charisma. Sure, some say those are exactly the con-artists you want to stay away from. But first and foremost, to me, he does connect. He'd be the one I'd want delivering a message of hope as the president in a (god forbid) crisis. I think he can use that skill in rallying the country around him to get thinks accomplished, not just during crises.

That combined with the lousy alternatives, makes me lean toward voting for Obama. I think he is the best choice this year, and no matter what, it can't possibly get any worse than what we've had for the last eight years.

Holy Cow

If all the Obama supporters are as subject-illiterate as their responses on this post ... no wonder he has gotten as far as he has considering his ineptness and lack of true ideas.
