Obama Pushes for Higher Investment Taxes

capital gains

Can you please respond to this, We own property that we are trying to sell and right now if we sell we pay a 15% Captial Gains tax on the amount over what we purchased it for in 1988. It is a business property where we work and manage. So, even at 15% plus another 5% to Massachusetts, it's a huge amount of tax.

Would Obama's plan to raise bring it even higher and even if we work at the property as managers, is that still the case, we just can't afford to lose even more money, this was our plan for retirement money and money for our children's education and future.

Obama the One Name President

Who would want to vote for a man who everyone refers to only by one name OBAMA. Obama said this, Obama said that, Obama did this. Can you imagine this guy becoming our President being introduce when he is going to address The Our Nation as "Ladies and Gentleman The President of the United States President Obama. It just dosen't work of me. Even the main stream media always refers to Obama as Sentor Obama you never hear them say his full name like when it comes to Sentor John McCain or Gov. Sara Palin the name of this man is not just there. Why because he has a dangerous name, like Marxism, Hitler, Osama, Satan, Muhammad. Who would want to vote for a person with only one name, well not I. If people who are voting for this man think that he will not sell us out they better think again. Iam hoping and praying that Sentor John McCain really lets Obama have it this next and last debate and really expose Obama to the world and this nation.

Capital gains and home sales tax increases

How will any one exPect to make any nmoney on the two biggest ways to invest and earn money if the capital gains tax is increased to 28% ( that doesn't include state taxes) on investmensts and if the sale of your home profits taxes are increased to 28%? Is this true that is what Barack Obama would like to do, is raise both of those? Why don't we hear about this on the debates and all over the news like we do all the other tax changes?

capital gains tax affects many other than the rich

I have depended on tax on stock capital gains to remain low so that I will have funds for assisted living in a few years. I am 81 and not eligible for long term care insurance.

My costs for volunteer work aiding the poor comes out of my social security benefit - I get no pension. So you see that this tax affects more than the rich.

Capital gains steals people's homes

I've been out of work for 5 years and had a few job offers in other cities, but just can't afford to pay $100K in capital gains tax on my house just to take a job in another city where

the job pays $100K. I would have to work 10 years to save up from that $100K capital gains tax just to move. So, I stay in

my house and draw down on my savings. THe headhunter said he

can't find people with 20 years job experience to be managers who can move and

so his company is moving the whole department offshore including 20 jobs for younger workers.

So I call the home tax, the "outsourcing tax".

Another friend drives

2 hours in the morning and 2 hours at night because he can't

afford to move an give the government $100K in capital gains.

Remember, when you sell a home, you need the same amount

of money to buy another home. Better to just

waste gasoline than lose life savings.

Obama taxes

Will Obama keep his word and not tax anyone at a higher rate who's income is less than $250,000? For instance, if you are retired and all of your income is from long term capital gains, will you pay 15% or will your taxes go up to 28-39%? If Obama lets the Bush tax cuts expire, will the lowest bracket go back to 15% from 10% (a 50% increase in taxes) and will the marriage penalty be restored, thus costing a married couple more in taxes, just by letting the "tax cuts for the rich" expire? He will let them go, and then claim that HE didn't raise your taxes. When the Democrats took over the Congress, they ran on gas prices and the economy - gas was $2.13 a gallon, and the S&P 500 was at $1492. What changed? Not the president, Only the Senate and Congress - gas is over $3.50 a gallon and the S&P closed at 1192. Don't Blame Bush, he's been there almost 8 years, though a pretty good economy. It all went to h-ll in the last 2 years.

Who is Obama ... really?

Obama's so called centrist positions came about rather quickly, about a year ago, after 20 years of embracing the far left, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Father Phfleiger, Ayers, etc.. Everyone knows this disingenuous move to the center was to get votes ... not because Obama all of a sudden had a true change of heart, and abandoned 20 years of his true beliefs. So, why does a good portion of the American public buy into to this? What makes these gullible people think that if he gets elected, we won't be stuck with a bunch of far left extremist socialist policies? After all, Obama has been the most liberal senator in congress, and Joe Biden has been the third most liberal senator in congress. Most, and third most, out of 100 senators are bad odds. Wake up American ... keep America strong, elect McCain/Palin to the white house in November.
