13 Ways to Save Money with Hydrogen Peroxide

By Kimberly Palmer

Posted: March 9, 2009

Hydrogen peroxide, that watery substance that does such a good job cleaning out cuts, can often be used as a substitute for more expensive household cleaners. A 16-ounce bottle with a 3 percent concentration of peroxide typically goes for $1 or less, while spray bottles or jugs of harsher chemicals cost $4 or more. (Stay away from more concentrated forms of hydrogen peroxide, which can be dangerous if swallowed.) Try out these uses, which come from a widely-circulated Internet post and are backed up by research, and add your own below:

Please share your own peroxide uses below.

other uses

- fever blister, it will not prevent it , but it will reduce the effects , to a day or to rather than 2-3wks

-whiten nails, again , 3 HP/4 water, dip nails in bowl, then RINSE

-clean ears, dilute, 1 HP/100 water ratio, with q-tip, dip and SQEEZE excess off, and insert carefully. then use a new dried q-tip to get excess

****** as mouthwash, it has irritated my throat*********** therefore always test and use a little.

when in doubt!!! don't try

Peroxide use

Some good tips, and I say tips. So glad some pointed out, not to use the unduluted peroxide. This shows me to research what I read. Thanks so much for the person who said the 1%peroxide is better.

As far as Alex-please don't use space for gutter talk.

Thanks. Most of what you had to say was good, but one of the last remarks was not necessary.

Replies for the future doctor.

* Rinse your mouth out with one capful of hydrogen peroxide instead of mouthwash. Some people say it helps prevent canker sores and keeps teeth white.

- - - Okey, I have to agree the with the first one, some dentist recommend washing your mouth with H.P.

* To clean your toothbrush, soak it in a cup of hydrogen peroxide.

- - - I would say can be done, but you can also use baking soda.

* Pour peroxide on cuts and skin infections. (Bonus factor: Kids love to watch the blood fizz away.)

- - - H.P. kill bacteria and also your cells, ever heard of hydrogen bomb, well the the same idea, when you see

those bubbles it's kind of little explosions, where your and bacteria cell explode.

* Clean toilets and sinks with peroxide.

- - - Yes, it will kill bacteria, but it just useless they will come back the next day.

I don't see the point of cleaning toilets with H.P. Anyone heard of people dying from toilet germs..... i don't think so.

* Spray peroxide into your nose when you have a cold or stuffed up sinuses.

- - - Okey, my dad once spray H.P. into his nose by accident, and as far as I remember he wasn't happen, since his nose was burning.

.

* Spray peroxide on your hair and then go out into the sun if you want to lighten your locks.

- - - Don't know about this one, but there is a reason why H.P. kept in dark bottles.

* Substitute peroxide for bleach in your white load of laundry to whiten up those whites.

- - - Too expensive to do that.

* Instead of Windex, use peroxide to clean mirrors.

- - - Are you crazy, NO. Defiantly I will stick to Windex.

Please share your own peroxide uses below.

- - - When a moon full stand on your head against the wall, and stick the whole H.P. bottle up your butt so that H.P. could to enter you large intestine.

That way you will kill all of your germs in intestine and yourself.

Yea, go add this to your list!
