It's time for an Alpha Consumer Challenge: Nominate your choice for the best money-saving kitchen gadget. The randomly-selected winner will receive a copy of Slow Cookers for Dummies, which gives you a hint at my first nomination. Here are a few other ideas to get you started. Leave your own suggestions in the comments below for a chance to win.

Now, let's hear your nominations.

kitchen gadgets at great prices

Check out www.timesavingtools.com they have lots of kitchen tools and gadgets. Its one of my favorite places to shop if you love to cook. That have a lot of things for the kitchen to make it easy to chop, cut and store. I've placed several orders with them and so far no complaints.

pressure cooker is money-saver

With a pressure cooker you can save energy while making quick work of cooking beans or stewing a chicken, and you can also use it to process home-canned fruits, vegetables and other products.

On the other hand, the food-processor is a great time and labor saver for, yes, shredding cheese, chopping vegetables, even making bread dough. I also save money by making my own "bagged salad" with the help of a salad spinner. Can I nominate three?

Herbs

As warm weather approaches, planting begins! I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to use a lot of fresh herbs in my cooking and it is SO expensive to buy them! It's theft what they charge in a grocery store.

Go to your local plant store and pick up a few essentials (basil, thyme, rosemary, chives, etc.) and get in and out for less that $20. You'll have fresh herbs all season and can dry them when the season ends.
