Will Starbucks's New Deals Save You Money?

Back to blog

No you don't have to spend at least $2.00 to get the discount

When you pass your local starbucks in the morning, you can stop in and buy a morning paper for 50 cents and bring your receipt back that afternoon and get the $2.00 discount. I happen to work for Starbucks and though our goal as a company is to make PROFIT, this does not mean we set out to screw over our customers. Starbucks was set apart by our connection to our customers, not for screwing them over. It is possible to offer people an incentive to come back for a visit to enhance our business while at the same time offering someting to our customers. Hence INCENTIVE. Get a clue people!

Rewards Card

As a once a day Starbuck's customer (I usually ride my bike there), I do have a rewards card. The only problem is I don't drink coffee; only iced tea and the rewards program doesn't cover iced tea refills.

gallons of gas for a 2nd cup-o-joe plus $2.00

of course giving the comparison of the afternoon cost ($2) verses the ($4) morning makes it sound so much better! NOT! The first one in the norning wasn't worth the afternoon cost of $2.

Why don't they just say buy one and the 2nd is $2 bucks right away?

Take advantage

I plan on using the new deal by simply saving the $2 drink until the next day in the fridge :)

Starbucks latest offer - Love it!

I agree with the last contributor. I visit my local Starbucks twice a day and always have a tall coffee in the morning (costs $1.73) and a frappuccino in the afternoon. This promo allows me to save nearly $3 every day!!!

Way to go Starbucks!

Superb Promotion from Starbucks

I work for Starbucks and have many regulars that visit 2 - 3 times a day. This new incentive is exactly what it is supposed to be..... a reward for those that are regulars and a great way to try something new for those that aren't.

We all have to drink some type of liquid to survive, but how many of us drink only water every day??? Not many I'll bet .....

Maybe we should consider how much people spend on bottles of coke or other "fast food" drink takeouts before this $2 quality beverage offer is negatively judged.

Did anyone think about the fact that the "ICED" Coffee contains only HALF THE COFFIE......hmmmmm have price, How do they do it?

Ryan of ATLANTA of GA @ Aug 07, 2008 12:14:29 PM

you end up payng $4 bucks anyway for coffe, they are trying to sound like their giving you discount but really, their getting even more money out of you

Helloo people, it doesn't have to be "too much caffeine" for one day because if you come back after 2pm you don't necessarily have to get a caffeinated beverage; there's also the vivanno, sorbetto, and the frappuccinos...

Really Crunched for Money?

If you are really feeling a cash crunch and trying to save money, buying coffee would be one of the first expenses to get rid of...brewing your own at home in the mornings or drinking office coffee would be far cheaper or free.

I stand amazed that people claim to be "tight on cash" yet have money for any number of luxuries including going out to eat for meals, happy hours, daily coffee drinks, getting their nails done, hair styling/highlights/dyes, going to movies, picking up gum/mints/candy in line at the grocery store, etc.... When those kinds of "needs" are affordable, I don't care if you go to Starbucks 100x a day...just don't claim to be tight on money.
