Is the New Double Eagle Coin a Good Buy?

UHR double eagle

It's clear alot of posters here know little about gold nore coin collecting nore the UHR Double eagle..

They have tried to make THIS poticular coin for over 100 yrs now and over the years many can't even be compared to the beauty or historical significance of this coin. They are only making this for ONE year and so far the Mintage is looking fairly low by the end of the year they may have just over or just under 100,000 or so which is a very low mintage for such a coin of this stature..

I think it's an excelent idea to get this for your grand kids and holding it till there adults... There is NO WAY by the time they are adults it will still only be worth bullion prices NOT THIS COIN.. If you do consider buying it for them I would highly recomend having them graded and slabbed for long term storage and protection for these coins (preferably by PCGS) The slabbs will keep the coins in its perfect flawless condition for many lifetimes and that way when you do eventually give them these special coins they won't highly depreciate it's value by touching them with there fingers or worse yet dropping them on the groud and possibly denting them.. The better the condition and grade the coin is the higher the value it will have longterm...

2009 Double Eagle

My Double Eagle came today. It was a nice coin, nicely packaged, but looked smaller than I had expected. I think the premium over gold price is to cover the cost of the extravagant box and booklet it came with. Still, its something nice to look at and leave to grandchildren.

A piece of art. Beautiful coin.If you are both

a collector and investor a great choice. A rather

high premium as only an investment. I have one.

Still awaiting the companion book.

H. R. Double Eagle coin

I ordered one coin on 1/30/09. I received the coin today,

I'am very pleased with the coin. I'am not a expert with regard to the grading procsss, But the coin is by far the best coin that I have. You can-not beat the cost for shipping and the packing was very good. the case is outstanding.

I have been ordering from the U.S. Mint for several years and have always been very pleased. Best of luck to all of you that are waiting for your coins and I hope they are as nice as mine.

U S Mint playing games w/2009 Dbl Eagle

The Mint is toying around with the sale of these coins. On 1/22/09 I ordered one which is supposed to ship on 02/06/09 (today)the status is "on hold' and "backordered". I am not holding my breath. Ordered another one on 01/27/09 at $1,189.00 Order was cancelled 0n 02/03.09. Ordered another one on 01/31 09 at $1,239.00 Order was cancelled on 02/03/09. The mint suggested that I reorder these items with no explanation why the other orders were cancelled. The next one is a strange one. For reason of a computer glitch, on 02/03/09 I reordered two coins at $1,239.00 and wound up with three coins being ordered. The status of these three orders states that are "on hold" and are "backordered w/ dely of 03/20/09 It is my suspicion and opinion, that the general public is not going to receive any of these coins until the alloted amount for certain for certain entities (dealers)who have the necessary financial resources are served first.

I ordered one.

I'm 50 years old. My 401K plan is a joke. My real-estate investments are a joke (in Michigan). Do I think Social Security will be there for me... I HOPE so, but I can NOT count on it. Q: Who can I count on? A: ME! That why I now ivnest in Au and Ag. Sure it is a volitile investment, but it is tangable. Regarding the 2009UHRDEG Coin, the priemun is NOT that much over spot (cost $1,812.00 + 5.00 shipping). If it becomes a "hit" great, if not it is just bullion. Good look'in bullion. Thats "ok" with me. I'll pay the premium and "hope."

Mutual Funds and 529s are overrated

All of these 'supposed' finance experts stick to the same diatribe about diversifying over several different funds and stock....but not precious metals, coins, nor Fine ART? Why is that? REAL (intelligent) DIVERSIFICATION should include putting 5-10% in precious metal and 5-10% in art. Both of those two can EASILY outperform 'funds'...just look at the markets now!

For financial planners to continue to not call coins and Fine Art a wise investment is just ridiculous.
