Locking in Lower Gas Prices

Back to blog

Sound fishy

Patty from FL got a great point to all and answered all of the questions . How do we know if Mygallons is just a scam and can go belly up any given moments ? Are they even in the BBB ?

I will take my chance and pay the higher gas price at the local stations and not risking to lose my pre-paid fixed gas price .

MyGallons.com

So when thousands of people send thier hard earnd money to lock gas prices What happens if Gas prices skyrocket.

They might just say we are bankrupt and we are SORRY.

I would rather take my chances.

It's a scam

If you read the terms, the most you can save is .10 per gallon. Example, if you paid 3.50 on the site and spend more then 3.60 for gas they will debit your account the difference over .10 cent. but if you buy gas between 0-.10 then you lose the difference. The company will not be around for long.

I'm skeptical...

I often do due diligence on a company by researching any and all employees who have a profile on LinkedIn. After a quick search, I couldn't find anyone on the entire LinkedIn network that listed MyGallons as a current or previous employer. That's a red flag!

Bottom line

Yes ,british pay more and in whole E.U. gas prices are about $ 7 a US gallon. One of the reasons for it is the high built in taxation to cover amongst other ,the big social net expenses they all have, because all that there is a social democracy for young ,retired, poor ,needy ,etc. programs like mostly free health care, schooling, maternity compensations for years !, and many other benefits ,you just can't imagine exist. Also in E.U. regardless in what country you are ,is a very good ,affordable public transportation infrastructure and you don't really need a car,and yes, even the passenger trains are running like clock work.On the other hand we here in US ,in run you dry ,down and out Republican capitalism, have no alternative,no meat on bone ,we all have to drive on high gas prices.Due to expanded spaces and lack of a serious public transportation,we all have no choice but drive regardless of gas price.and because not much of social net to talk off ,built in gas price, the gas prices must be kept low,or we all will go out and under,There no longer room to make historical profits for oil co.'s or others, web sites that exist or will exist just to pump you even drier Time to wake up

PRETTY SIMPLE

IF YOU ARE NOT SPENDING $1,000 OR MORE FOR GAS THIS IS NOT FOR YOU PERIOD END OF STORY. BOTTOM LINE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK FOR SOME AND NOT FOR OTHERS. YOU HAVE TO FACTOR IN THE ANNUAL 30 OR 40 DOLLAR MEMBERSHIP, YES (ANNUAL NOT MONTHLY, 3.33 MO AT 40). YOU THEN PURCHASE GAS AT THE LOCAL AVG OF TODAYS COST IE. IF YOUR METROPOLITAN AVG IS $4 YOU LOCK IN $4. YOU WILL THEN RECIEVE A DEBIT CARD IN THE MAIL THAN YOU USE FOR GAS (IN THE FUTURE NOT TODAY) THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT SO IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE IT 2, 3, 4, OR EVEN 5 YEARS FROM NOW YOU COULD DO THAT. IF GAS ROSE TO $7 OVER THE NEXT 2 OR 3 YEARS WHICH COULD HAPPEN, YOU THEN BEGIN USING YOUR CARD. YOU ALSO HAVE THE OPTION OF CANCELLING YOURMEMBERSHIP AND GETTING ALL YOUR MONEY BACK THAT YOU HAVE PAID FOR GAS, AND THERE IS A GARAUNTEE THAT IF YOU DONT SAVE OVER THE YEAR YOU GET YOUR MEMBERSHIP BACK AS WELL. A COUPLE WAYS THIS COMPANY IS MAKING MONEY. FEES FOR THOSE WHO ARE OVERDRAFTING, REFILL FEES, AGAIN IF YOUR ONLY PUTTING IN 1 OR 2 HUNDRED DOLLARS THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. THEY ALSO MAKE MONEY FROM THEY ANNUAL FEES, POSSIBLE FUTURE STOCKS IF AND WHEN THEY GO PUBLIC, AND THEY MOST LIKE INVEST THE MONEY THEY GET FROM MEMBERS BUYING GAS BACK INTO PROBABLY GAS, BEING THAT IT IS GOING UP LIKE CRAZY, SO THAT IN ITSELF COVERS ANY LOSS THEY MAY INCURE FROM THE CURRENT PRICE OF GAS TO YOUR LOCKED IN PRICE. WHEN YOU USE YOUR CARD THE GAS STATION WILL GET WHAT EVER PRICE GAS IS AT THAT TIME, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL THEN BE CREDITED BACK THE DIFFERENCE IE YOU BUY 10 GAL AT $5 = $50, BUT YOU LOCKED IN $4 = $40 YOUR ACCOUNT WILL RECIEVE A $10 CREDIT.

HOPEFULLY THIS ANWERS THE QUESTIONS, THE COMPANY IS LEGIT, THEY ARE NEW, AND JUST LIKEANY NEW BUSINESS THEY COULD FELL NEVER KNOW, BUT MOST LIKELY THEY PROBABLY WONT, UNTIL WE OVE TO ALTERNATE FUELS FOR OUR VEHICLES. ---- HAVE A GREAT DAY, HAPPY GASING:-)

Buck Fush

This plan is workable but will be short-lived. Once Bush and his idiot cronies are out of office (hopefully NOT replaced by Republicans) we should see the prices start to normalize as well as other commodities such as food. It is all too obvious what the Republican plan is about oil. Speculate it so far out of reach that the American public will quiver and beg for offshore drilling. The fact is that there is so much offshore available NOW and they are not taking advantage of it. Help get REPUBLICANS OUT OF OFFICE and the change will be mond-boggling.

MyGallons.com is a scam

The Better Business Bureau gave this company its lowest rating: F.

http://www.bbbsoutheastflorida.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=92009744

This is a quote from their site:

"The company’s website FAQ states that “the card is currently accepted by more 95% of the filling stations in the United States”, however on July 2, 2008 the BBB was informed by MyGallons founder Steve Verona that their negotiations with US Bank’s Voyager program have broken off and they currently do not have a vendor to process transactions with the gas stations listed on their website."

If you go to gas stations in your area and ask the attendant if the station accepts the MyGallons.com gas card, you will find that no one will accept it.

Any money you give to that site will be worthless to you since you won't be able to spend it at any gas station.

Please do not send your money to this fraudulent site.

THE BOTTOM LINE

every comment I read has some good points...the truth of the matter is ,that it won't be beneficial to the average consumer...With the economy unstable..we all know gas prices won't go down,it will steady off in a few years...Big corp. will save thousands of dollars..It is already occurring from southwest airlines, federal express airlines and the big 3 dealerships...This is where the incentives of selling cars(we are already seeing this advertised ).Also think about this/ a lot of people of jumping on this/( Do To Panic). There saying you need to take advantage of this before gas prices rise.and keep this in mind, this is a new company and in 6 weeks you get your card.Well in 6 weeks they may go out of business and wham they have your money and you lost it .Who is insuring that this company will apply this money as it states. For example gas is $4.00 a gallon/ we prepay 6 mos./ in 4 mos. the gas rises to $5.00 a gallon /so for 2 mos. the company is going to make up the $1.00 a gallon difference. This is impossible, some corp. has to be backing up this private sector.Hopefully for those who are undecided this will point you in the right direction...

DO THE MATH!!

Do the math!!! If it works for you, do it. If it doesn’t DON’T! Yes this is a play on futures, and is capitalism at its best. This is for people/companies that use large amounts of fuel monthly and have the capital to INVESTE to hedge their costs.

If you want gas prices to go down use less gas. Look at alternative, i.e.: electric [wind, solar, nuclear, coal if we have too], E85 [not from corn], cng, public transit.

NO ANWR! This is the best time to lead our country to reclaim our title as leaders in the world for developing NEW technology. Keeping our coast pristine for tourism can be profitable too. It brings in $$ more evenly across our economy. If we are going to be a “service economy” now lets set it up right. Remember whatever oil we don’t buy Chine will! So when their land becomes so polluted they will want to vacation here.

We get the government we disserve. I want to thank the Christians who brought Bush back to the white house. Parse the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!

OMG!
