Listerene in fact ATTRACTS sugar ants. At least, at my place. They LOVE the stuff. I have had to move my bottle to the most unreachable place, the top of a trash can, so they can't crawl all over it, licking at it.

Citrus peels
They work great in the microwave-in place of cleaner sprays. Just nuke them for a few seconds, discard and wipe microwave clean.

As a smoker, I have tried many things to eliminate cigarette smoke. However the best things I have found are Air Effects air freshener, Smokers Candles (I found them at Wal-Mart, 2 for a dollar or two), and Zero Smoke (which works the best on everything from air, to clothes, to hair- you can find it online- I love this stuff). Also it is better to smoke under a vent- like in a kitchen or bathroom, or at least sit next to an open window so it doesn't spread over the whole house.

vanilla
A small bowl of vanilla (for cooking) works great to get rid of smells. A paper towel soaked in vanilla will also do the trick and is less messy than a bowl. My dad once had a skunk spray the silo on their farm and bowls of vanilla got rid of the smell. And vanilla smells better than vinegar. :)

Window or Glass cleaner
l cups of each of the following:
Water, vinegar, amonia, degreaser soak (ie dawn or wisk)
Mix ingredients into spary bottle, apply to surface and rinse. Outside windows do not need to be wiped off.

newspaper,or promotion papers sent by the groceries stores by mail, are good for cleaning bathroom mirrors,glass tables, windows,just spray with water the surface area and scrub. i also use emty gatorate bottles for bottled water, i just wash then every time with soap, and refill with water,put then in the refrigerator and its ready to grab it, when you need.

Many food items go on sale every 3 months. When that happens, stock up on the items you normally use that are on sale. You will never have to pay full price again for the items you need!
Applying any coupons you have to the sale items makes the deal even sweeter.

Essential Oils
Rather than buying essential oils at a health food store, buy them from online soap making hobby shops (libertynatural.com and wholesalesuppliesplus.com are two good examples). The difference is that soap makers use cosmetic grade essential oils, not necessarily medicinal grade oils (for internal consumption). It can mean a savings of 80% or more. For example, 8oz of cosmetic grade orange essential oil averages around $5 - compared to $2 for a 1/4oz bottle at the health food store.
In addition to putting essential oils on a light bulb, you can put some oils on cotton balls or klenex, and tuck it into the air conditioning vent. The air will circulate the scent through a room.

Essential Oils
The problem with putting essential oils on lisht bulbs is the heat, heat cooks the oil (which is a pure concentrated herb) to such a high heat that it will turn it toxic and not be healthy to inhail. Get yourself a Scentsy Candle Warmer, place distilled water in the top dish and place a just few drops of an essencial oil into the water. These candle warmers are so cool you can touch the wax in the top and it will not burn a child. I buy my essential oils from butterflyexpress.com. They are pure oils and have not been cut with anything to dilute their medicinal value.
