How Will You Spend Your Rebate?

Back to blog

rebate - sure

Since I do live within my meager means as a full time adult returning college student and I work, my taxes this year were less than great. This rebate will actually fill in the amount I had expected to get from the IRS when I did my taxes.

Yes, people do need to live within their means but some people have no means at standard living costs. With gas at @ $4 p/gal. and rent going up, cost of food going up because the cost of transporting it going up and so on, how does the government expect people to rejoice?

I would like to live somewhere else but when it comes down to it - this is still the most economical country to live in. Go figure.

Learning to live within one's means is a great idea but so many Americans have fixated on the "dream" that they remain in dreamland and are no longer capable of downsizing their living arrangements.

This is a me society and until we learn to see beyond ourselves and our own wants - we won't really achieve anything of substance.

pay it forward again

I have to agree with Tom from Indiana. There are so many others out there that go without food, shelter, adequate clothing, etc... Some can change but others are forced into it by circumstance. I am blessed and grateful for what I do have. I will however pay my ex-husband back the $600 that I've owed him for a year. He has been extremely patient and I'm still blessed to have him as a friend.

rebate

if you ask me i think what we need is to be useing our own fuel and oil resources instead of trying to run another country out of oil that will never happen not in a million years this will make it easier on consumers and employees and will most deffently bring back jobs and the prices of food and resources to what they should be i can rememmber when a pop was like 35 cents or less and gas was 50 cents we are not to far gone that we cant still do this yeah the rebate is great for the average consumer but wont fix nothing

On what to spend the rebate?

I will spend mine by have a third meal each day for the duration of the funds instead of only two.

You are damned right this is a complaint.

I am seeing from the counter arguments that the reason for the complaints is not clear: this rebate is little more than a bandage, a bribe, or something on the order of a pacifier when what is truly needed is a long-term, sustainable solution.

To those focusing on the complaints, do you seriously believe this rebate is going to "stimulate the economy"?

what rebate its not my money

I will spend my rebate paying my bills to the credit companies, that got us in this mess to begin with....

Hoolie

Wow Tom from Indiana. That is really generous. But being a full-time student I will have to use the rebate check to help pay for my college expenses. I do not understand why some people are whining about possibly getting $600-1200 in the mail. Even if you will use it to pay for bills, gas or food it is still money that you did not have to start with. You can put the money in savings and save it if it will make you feel better because then you can watch it.

But hey - - whatever suits you.
