they don't mark the items up, I shop there weekly. I have never encountered this. I will only use the coupons on items I usually purchase, so I know their price, and I've never found it marked up.

Also, Costco is one of the only retailers to lower prices on items. For example the 2 bottles of Olive Oil were 19.99, then 21.99, now they're 18.49 because the stronger dollar.

Costco gets my vote

We have always been treated exceptionally well at Costco. Their return policy is one of the best and I think the quality of their products is quite high. That said, one must be rational about purchasing the large size/quantity in which Costco specializes. We are empty nesters but enjoy the ability to purchase non-perishable items such as soaps, paper products, and cleaning items every few months rather than every few weeks. When we buy meat, we usually repackage into smaller quantities and freeze the extra. Costco can't be beat when you are entertaining large groups.

In Defense of Costco

My husband got my engagement ring there, and it appraised at $5,000 more than he paid for it. That, friends, is substantial. So, since we have the membership, we do use it within reason. And since it is just the two of us and my parents are now empty nesters, we split a lot of the bulk items and that saves us a bundle. I also appreciate the quality of their products - especially their meat and some frozen foods. They'll keep my business, but I don't go crazy there!

Customer service vs. customers.

I've been shopping in Costco for years. But Lately their customer service is sucks!! Specially their front-end managers. They will never help you with anything, always rolling their eyes when you ask something! I've been surprised by there rudeness. I know its a great company with great benefits for their employees, I just wish that those employees would stick up for their benefits. May be its just the Costco's in Beaverton, Or are like that. But its a shame that they act like that! I don't expect much, but at least be nice!

Split your membership at costco

When I originally signed up for Costco it was an option to split the membership with another person and only pay half the fee. Now I just go with my Mom and don't pay a fee at all. I just pay her for my purchases. Some things are cheaper and some more expensive, so do your pricing first and then go. Most times they will post the cost per ounce, etc. You have to do your research. Love the toilet paper, it is the reason I go!

costco saves me at least $312.00 a year

I NEVER waste money at Costco! I come with a list and stick to it. I specifically go for certain kosher items that cost way more in a conventional grocery chain or specialty store. One example is frozen kosher chicken - costs between $2.49 and $2.99 at kosher butchers and Costco sells that particular brand for $1.89 lb. My family consumes at least 10 pounds of chicken a week. Multiply that by 52 weeks a year savings at 60 cents per pound - and voila, I saved $312.00 ANd that's just for one particular item!

I also shop for baby gifts - brand names at one-half the price of Macy's and even cheaper than Target. What more can a consumer want or expect? If someone is an impulse shopper, let them learn to control themselves. Come with cash only, don;t use a credit card - that will surely make you count your dollars and also put some 'sense' in your head.

costco vs. bargin stores

I find the cost of membership at Costco well worth the money!!! I know I am buying a brand (Kirkland) that is consistently superior to name brand products in every way. Costco stands behind everything they sell whether it is their brand or a national brand. I also know that I am supporting a company that pays their employees a living wage with great benefits.

if I want something that comes in too big of packaging, I either share it with a friend or give some of it to a shelter...all I can say is shopping at Costco is a win-win situation every time!

Costco is awesome!

I love to shop at Costco, both in the store and online. I shop for items that I need and use and thus do not waste money. At times I shop with a friend and we split the cost and the items in half- talk about a savings!!!!! Just like at any store, you need to exercise self control and resist impulse shopping. Costco may not be for you and that's fine, in fact I would prefer it if less people were in the store - it makes my shopping experience MUCH, MUCH better! So stay home all you Costco haters!

money back guarantee- on most items

Have you heard of returning a product that was purchased over 3 years ago? Yep, I did. From personal products to kitchen gadgets. Some were new and others were used. COSTCO happily returned my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even when I didn't have receipts, they were able to tap into my buying history and see that the products were purchased there. And if I got something as a gift, COSTCO gave me gift card.

What company out there has a return policy SO GOOD? Not Walmart, not Target, not Kmart!!!

Sam's Wholesale

I shop wholesale both for personal and business related items. Buying in bulk is easier and cost effective especially when you consider the gas costs of picking up supplies and my time is too valuable to constantly be running to the store or sending an employee there.. Unlike Wal-Mart the lines are short, people are nice, cheerful and happy to be working there and most importantly the signs are in English which is a big advantage over Wal-Mart who seems to believe we're operating in Mexico and forget to label somethings in anything other than Spanish. The situation is a win /win. I've never had problems with returns or any other policies and the yearly fee is inconsequential in comparison to the hassle-free service. If people don't want to pay to be there.. Hey shorter lines for me. Sides memberships just do what they have always done. Keep the Riff-Raff out.
