Geography
This small city is in the middle of urban Fairfax County, west of Washington, D.C.
Cultural Attractions
The historic Old Fairfax County Courthouse and jail are in the center of the city. George Mason University, one of Virginia's largest colleges, is just outside the city limits.

There are numerous national and regional parks are nearby.
Historical
In March 1863, Confederate Mosby's Rangers captured a Union General, two captains, 30 prisoners, and 58 horses in Fairfax--without firing a shot.
