Climate
The city’s semidesert climate means warm temperatures in the summer and cool weather in the winter.

The city sits in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range and includes the area that stretches across the Carson Range to Eagle Valley and the Pine Nut Mountains.

Historical
In 1859, gold prospectors found the Comstock Lode, the largest silver find in world history, in the hills east of Carson City.
