Geography
On the shores of Lake Monroe, Deltona is 30 minutes from Orlando to the south and Daytona Beach to the north.
Cultural Attractions
DeBary Hall, in nearby DeBary, is an estate built in the 1870s by Samuel Frederick deBary as a vacation home near Lake Monroe. It now offers educational programming on the history and culture of the region.
Recreation
Deltona Festival Park is a 115-acre tract with nature trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and a pavilion extending onto Lake Butler.
Historical
Deltona, unnamed until 1962 and unincorporated until 1995, grew from small communities established around Lake Monroe after the appearance of commercial steamboats on the St. Johns River.
Economy
Originally made up mostly of retirees, Deltona has developed into a stable residential community of retirees and business commuters working in Orlando and Daytona Beach.
