Geography
The community lies on the eastern slope of the McDowell Mountains. At the center of the town’s man-made lake is one of the world’s highest fountains, which sprays 560 feet into the air, making it three times the height of Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone Park.
Cultural Attractions
Fountain Hills celebrates its western heritage with a Pony Express/Hashknife Gang Celebration and several other community events throughout the year.
Recreation
There are plenty of opportunities to hike, bike, ride horses, and play tennis in local parks and ranches.
Historical
Though the community is fairly young, the Verde Valley has the rich history of its former inhabitants, the Yavapai Indians.
Economy
Retirees influence the community’s economy, but most working residents are Phoenix commuters.
