Home to Hood College, this city was a sort of crossroads of the Civil War.

Cultural Attractions
The town's museums and historic sites document involvement in the Civil War, including the Barbara Fritchie House, the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, and the Monocacy National Battlefield.

With one third of Maryland's milk production, the surrounding county is the state's largest dairy producer.
Geography
Northwest of Baltimore, Frederick is intersected by five highways.
Historical
Frederick was the site of the Battle of South Mountain and the Battle of Monocacy during the Civil War. The Twelve Immortal Judges in defiance of the Stamp Act also occurred in Frederick.
Recreation
Frederick is home to the Maryland Shakespeare Festival and its own single-A baseball team, the Frederick Keys.
