Located among the Huachuca, Dragoon, Mule, and Whetstone mountains, this town was appropriately given the Spanish name meaning “mountain view.”

Climate
Thanks to its high elevation, Sierra Vista experiences sunny, warm weather and is not as hot as much of Arizona. Average high temperatures in the town are about 89 degrees in July; average lows for the month are about 67.
Cultural Attractions
The town is a commercial center for Cochise County, with a recently built 400,000-square-foot mall that attracts shoppers from the area.
Economy
Many of the town’s residents are military retirees or employees of the Army command centers located at Fort Huachuca.
Historical
The town was built around Fort Huachuca, a cavalry post established in the late 1800s to protect the southern border from attacks by Geronimo, chieftain of the Apache Indians.
Recreation
Sierra Vista offers all the recreational opportunities that draw people to Arizona, such as golf, tennis, hiking, and biking.
