Profile
Bombay, India (large map)
A 15-minute drive from Bombay's domestic and international airports, the Asian Heart Institute forms part of the new Bandra Kurla Complex, a $250 million business-shopping-healthcare-living complex in northern Bombay. In 2005, surgeons at the hospital performed 1,218 coronary surgeries and procedures with a mortality rate of less than 0.5 percent. All coronary procedures at AHIRC deploy the beating-heart technique, which reduces post-operative complications and length of stay. In addition to coronary artery surgery, AHIRC specializes in the Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, valve repair and replacement, and aneurysm surgery of the aorta and other blood vessels. A special pediatric team operates on all types of cardiac conditions in children.
