Harvard is the Best for now and will continue to be in the future. The main reason is Harvard has the best financial endowment from the support of its allumini. With the biggest fund available Harvard will continue to attract the best faculty and talents to give their best to its students.

Not sure about these rankings of the best schools, since they can be quite subjective regardless of the criteria used. Generally speaking, US schools are favorably rated because of their combination of a strong faculty, highly motivated students, loyal alumni support and openness to new ideas. UK schools probably are overrated - just look at the way this country has been slipping in global economic performance as well as the increasing number of international students ( particularly those from former British colonies, i.e., India/HK/Singapore/Malaysia) - choosing to study elsewhere instead.

Harvard doesn't deserve to be the number 1 university. It sould be cambridge university. Cambridge university has got both more experience and talent. Also princeton university should be second. Then should come oxford. Then it should be Yale university and finally the best right now harvard.

Sorry, Americans on average might be a fairly ignorant lot when it comes to world affairs and world culture, but when it comes to US universities, no other country except possibly England is really in the same league.
It might be unfortunate but it's true. With the exception of Oxbridge (themselves a bit over-rated), no other school in the world can even come close to the top ten in the US.

I know it must being annoying for the rest of the world to look at this list and see so many of "the best schools in the world" on this list, and I sympathize with you. Although it may be hard for you to admit, the U.S. actually does have the best schools in the world. That is why so many bright students from other countries decide to study here. Someone earlier asked why an Australian school was not on this list, citing that 3 nobel peace prize winners came from there. Well this is Harvard University:
Seventy-five Nobel Prize winners are affiliated with the university. Since 1974, 19 Nobel Prize winners and 15 winners of the American literary award, the Pulitzer Prize, have served on the Harvard faculty.
I know people from other countries view Americans as "stupid", but we are not. Sure their is always going to be that ignorant American who feels they need trash other countries with their ignorance, but there also many highly intelligent students here. I think that many people assume Americans are stupid because of our current wars in the Middle East, but that does not represent the American people as a whole, just our government. The United States welcomes bight foreign students with open arms, we are the most ethnically diverse country in the entire world, and although you may look at us with a frown, you may be forgetting the problems that your country faces. Yes America sometimes acts as a world police, but did you Europeans forget 19th century Colonialism?, The Crusades? Muslims are angry at Europeans, it is a centuries old grudge that dates back to the Crusades. So stop your jealous and quit bitching.

A university is as good as its students. And if the finest Indian students compete to get in a university that is teh best acclaimed in India, then that university MUST be one of the finest in the world. You know why? Because it houses the brightest that the nation of 1 billion people can produce. It is that simple. The same logic goes for China, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Pakistan, Nigeria and others.
